December MMVIII

(Days in a haunted house, with echoes of my hauted childhood).

P.S. Still busy days, still busy life...but still breathing, still dreaming, still healing & still living.

Took the Panasonic G6 and 14-140 lens out for a walk. This is a test of the OIS at the long end. A bit of blur, but not bad for 1/8 second at 280mm equivalent!

One more shot of this 19th century masterpiece...

Completed in 1896 for $110,000, the impressive granite structure was constructed from stones quarried and pre-cut near Burnet County, Texas. Each piece was numbered and shipped for assembly, raised by a windlass pulled by donkeys.

Another beautiful tarn, further up the track from Moss Eccles Tarn, with a backdrop of Lakeland fells in the distance.

How better to end my COtoWA series than with a nice sunset? And with every conclusion of the day you should be a little bit wiser; so here's a good quote:

Thanks everyone!

Apparently, Anhinga is from a Brazilian Indigenous language meaning "devil bird". I always thought of them as the wise men of the waters though.

This interesting dog appeared to be thinking quite intently as I snuck of shot of him.

A very wintery looking scene at Wise Een Tarn with the Langdales providing a familiar yet alpine looking backdrop.

I sat next to this calm grey or blue heron in Boca Raton, Florida for a half hour - and his equanimity was inspiring. Maybe some rubbed off.

Mount Wise is just a ten minute drive from home and ideal place to catch any decent evening light. Here, the mist had just lifted, resulting in a soft but warm atmosphere. Thanks for viewing.
