*actually taken on 1/22/2011 because I was too drugged up to take any photos on the 21st
Today I lost my wisdom! I had wisdom teeth surgery in the late afternoon. All four were extracted. I was put under anesthesia and the surgery went pretty smoothly, though I do recall waking up for like 30 seconds while it was going on (a similar mini-freak out also happened to me when I was 7 or 8 having my tonsils removed, yikes!). Came out of the office with my mouth full of bloody gauze and a nurse wheelchair-ed me to my Dad's car. Of course being the weirdo I am, before the surgery started I requested to keep my wisdom teeth.
The top ones came out as regular full teeth. The ones on the bottom were impacted wisdom teeth and had to be cut into pieces in order to be removed, which explains the teeth shards in the photo. Pictured next to a quarter for size comparison.

Have I ever mentioned that cartoon teeth are always far cuter and less terrifying-looking than real teeth? Jeez, what are the roots of my wisdom teeth doing curling up all over the place?
New thing I learned: supposedly those with impacted teeth/smaller mouths are more evolved. Woohoo?
These previous tenants of my jaw got the boot yesterday. As you can see, I wasn't able to keep my wisdom teeth very clean all the way in the back of my mouth. They were also crowding out some of the little guys in front.
Plus, a lot of fillings. All three of my remaining wisdom teeth (the top left was pulled years ago) are impacted. Nice, huh?
These are my wisdom teeth. The two on the right were removed last wednesday and the two on the left removed today.

I was so scared this morning. Turns out... getting an IV, being put to sleep and waking up all bandaged is NOTHING to be worried about.
Now I have perocet... and soon I'll be able to eat as many milkshakes and pudding cups as I want!
Still in pain, plugged into my Ipod and reading books like there is no tomorrow. I will say bed gets a bit boring after the 3rd day. Today my face is the most swollen it's been since the operation and the bruising has begun. Sight for sore eyes!
