High Wire Gallery before the show: site of the Philadelphia stop on the Zeromoon 2011 tour with Pilesar, Blue Sausage Infant, Astma, etc... guarding the entrance was this peculiar disco polar bear doing battle with a giant furry spermatazoa. That's rock 'n roll for you.

ZURB Wired 2014: Meet Sacred Heart Community Services, a bay area non-profit organization that is celebrating 50 years of helping end poverty. We’re working alongside their team to help them with their holiday campaign and celebrating their 50th anniversary! We'll work on brand strategy and design for their campaign, including a website, brochures, posters and other goodies.
The ZURB Wired 24-hour marathon is where our team and the team from one lucky local nonprofit get together to do something great in 24 hours. We spend the day helping the nonprofit solve a big challenge; whether it be marketing for an upcoming event, or completely overhauling their brand; and we get it all done in 24 hours.
ZURB is a close-knit team of product designers that help companies design better. (www.zurb.com
Issues 2 and 3 of Wired's first year. My god, the ads are so ugly (the editorial is laid out beautifully and doesn't look dated at all, but the SGI and Mac ads look ancient).

A brief look at a night at the dog track, the 'Wire' being the common term for the finish line.
Through these images we visit the situations and people that make this cornerstone of British culture so popular. From 'Bristol John' to the 'boys from Tuckswood', all life is here, in one small space, on any given night.

Orienting a red ball.
We see the surface ball, placed on the touch wand magnet. A guide wire is inserted into the hole in the ball.
Katy aligns the wire in two ways:
She aligns the wire radially ( usually, toward the mast ). She also aligns the wire to the tangent of that part of the curve of the surface.
Katy is eyeballing these two alignments- a tricky feat.
It may help to say that the radial alignment is most easily determined from a top view of the part; the tangent * alignment is most easily determined from a side view.
If you're browsing, the peculiar curly thing is the floating touch wand with multiple, flexible fingers with magnets on each tip. It is used with the long touch wand of the pantograph.

* The tangent line:
The tangent line of a wine glass:
I couldn't find any pictures of this, but a classic example of a tangent line is the invisible line where you stop filling a wine glass. The 'cut line' is the point where the outward curve at the bottom of the glass, turns 'flat' and starts to curve, back inward, toward the top.
