One of a kind Copper Wire pendant, wrapped and wrapped, then coiled into a free form design. I've attached in a spoke design a blood red glass bead.
Pendant measures 7/8" at it's widest, and is 2 1/8" from bottom to top, including the coiled bale. This pendant does not come with a chain. The bale is about 2/8" and should fit most of your chains.
Breaking the sound barrier does not actually look like this, but its reasonably close. Dedicated to my colleagues who teach Physics.
Crown Jewels of the Wire is dedicated to the collectors of historic glass and porcelain insulators used by telegraph, telephone and electric power utilities. Insulators are the "crown jewels of the Wire."
What Are Insulators? "Insulators? You mean those glass things on the top of telephone poles? I must have shot at hundreds of those things when I was a kid!" Insulator collectors hear that a lot, as we attempt to explain just what it is that we collect. Hearing it usually makes us cringe, wondering just what rare treasure that person shot off the crossarm those many years ago.
Seems like every time I head over to Europe I see a Wire Fox Terrier, the kind of dogs I grew up with. Then right before I head home I see a Welsh Terrier, the kind of dog I have now.
Jamie Hector was the main star of this years event with every lady wanting a picture. I got to sneak a quick pic because he liked the girl I was talking to.
As I was photographing this old wire fence, the old woman who lived in the house behind it popped out and told me I was looking at her "field of wishes," referring to all the dandelions :).
Here’s my attempt on the wire sculpture assignment. I decided to stick with the whole nature and/or Spring theme as from the previous assignment. Truly, do have a love for Spring and nature, which is why I decided to incorporate this theme onto this assignment. So, what doesn’t say Spring/nature without butterflies, color, and flower petals? Reasons why I decided to create this wire sculpture.
I knew during my brainstorming process that I didn’t want my sculpture to be bland and lifeless. As I was searching for ways to add life to my wire sculpture, I came across this art technique/craft called dipped wire. Where you take your wire sculpture/piece, dip it into wood glue [not once but twice throughout the process, maybe add some color if wanted, and let it set to dry. Which in the end, gives you a dipped wire sculpture/piece. I personally thought the idea was unique and what I needed to give my sculpture more life, which is why I decided to use this technique. The emphasis is on the dipped wire petals and/or the color. There’s a balance as well with the color the petals posses and the blandness of the butterfly wire sculpture. To keep the sculpture altogether, I used a half of a foam sphere. Those added details bring some sort of harmony onto the sculpture for those reasons are why I was pleased on how it turned out.
