Autumn winds stripped barren all the trees,
As the icy Winter Queen stepped up her savage siege,
With cold unblinking eyes, on calculated cue,
She told Mother Nature precisely what to do-

A large field of round bales of cornstalks which will be used for feed or bedding over the long winter to come.These have become increasingly popular in our area as an occasional alternative to hay.They have less nutrional value to hay,but if you are a little short on hay,they will work.We baby our cows,only the finest hay for them! LOL
Although the short days of Winter and the cold weather can be stark after the Summer and colours of Autumn, there is beauty to be found in the trees when they are stripped of their leaves. There are many different species of tree planted in the park and these are more distinct at this time of year.
This photo was taken in the late afternoon as the sun was setting behind me and casting a warm glow across the lake.
The cold was our pride, the snow was our beauty. It fell and fell, lacing day and night together in a milky haze, making everything quieter as it fell, so that winter seemed to partake of religion in a way no other season did, hushed, solemn.

Just back from Grand Teton National Park. Had a great time. Met up with some flickr friends and found some beautiful wildlife. Although I must say wildlife was harder to find then I expected.

Just a dusting of snow overnight, but hardly noticeable today...winter is here! This was taken of the Ottawa River at the beginning of winter 2019.
The first Fence Friday of 2015 - and it's a snowless one here as Winter takes a little break...well, for a couple more days anyway.
