Cranioleso wins simboard event march 2021

I didn't realize how impactful making this portrait would be for me. The job insecurity is hard, still, knowing this is what must be done for the greater good, for all of us matters most. The t-shirt was what I happened to have on, and the light, well, may we ever turn towards it.

Breakfast and morning pages: acts of self-care. I like a little savory and a little sweet for breakfast, especially when I'm running a lot and need a bigger breakfast.

I am both amused by and in love with this photo.

"Boogie" Heading Home After Winning Big At The Car Show.

Post after work run. High 40s, no wind, and a decent hill workout. 8 miles later and a long day at work was put into perspective as the sun set.

I got to sneak in a lunch date with this inquisitive guy, peeking at me from under his stroller cover, and his mama. In my return to a more traditional 9-5 I've lost some of the flexibility and freedom that freelancing provided. I've gained other things I know (read: insurance we can afford that actually pays for my seemingly endless doctor's appointments and my husband's mental health needs). I know this. I'm grateful.

But I miss scheduling my comings and goings independent of a larger organization. On early fall afternoons walking to our town center for midday tacos has all the appeal. Combining that with getting time with a friend midweek infused a hectic few days with some levity. Good conversation, yummy food, baby snuggles... the good stuff. I love that this project reminds me, again and again of it.

Where's the good stuff in your life this week?

Finally, Friday, self portrait. A novel, the cat, scrubs-as-pajama pants, well-loved couch, home. Not pictured: my husband in the kitchen making broccoli cheese soup, and the dog, snoring underfoot. The weekend is off to a good start. I needed tonight to be what it is, I think.

After today's long run. I signed up for marathon #5 this week. Darby approves.

"YM Winner" inbound Rotterdam at the Yangtzekanaal!

She was happy to be outside with me after supper - having spent 5.5 hours worrying about mom out gardening alone... These days she can't be trusted to not eat things that upset her stomach, so if I'm busy she stays in the house or in the sun-room - neither of which is to her liking. Depth captured by leaving lots of breathing room in the image and by shooting towards an opening in the lilacs giving the illusion of somewhere to go...
