With a wet spring and now summer too, water levels in the Great Lakes are higher then they have been in years. Great for sailors with deep keels but not so much for people with homes or cottages close to the water. Everything seems to have it's winners and losers.
This image is actually from last year, when water levels were already a bit higher. It's not often we see a sunset here with such a lavender hue.

Gold medal winner! A postbox in the coastal town of Lymington, Hampshire painted gold in honour of Ben Ainslie, gold medal winner in the London 2012 Olympic Games - Sailing Finn - Men's Heavyweight Dinghy. The plaque also displays the dedication in brail.
As most of us are probably watching and enjoying the games from Rio 2016, I thought this was quite apt for the group 116 pictures in 2016 - mailbox or postbox
65. Mailbox / Postbox
FYI on this '2nd' gold postbox dedicated to Ben Ainslie
I read all about the campaign to get the Royal Mail to paint this one in Lymington, on the basis that Ainslie was a long time resident of the town. One resident took it upon himself to paint it gold and ended up in court but all charges dropped because of the campaign and Royal Mail did a u-turn and re-painted this one gold too. R.M had originally only painted a postbox in Cornwall, where Ainslie grew up. The lucky chap has two gold postboxes dedicated to him :))
