The 24th of June marks Midsummer's Day — the point, after the summer solstice, where the rising and setting sun begin to change position on the horizon. It can also be thought of as the point of peak summer's growth where nature's abundance is all around us.
This is the first time ever seeing this bird! It came to our garden to shelter in the shrubs and feed on the orange slices and suet.

Formerly placed in the tanager family (Thraupidae), it and other members of its genus are now classified in the cardinal family (Cardinalidae). The plumage and vocalizations are similar to other members of the cardinal family." (Wikipedia)

Just some simple raindrops to set the Sunday scene ...step a little closer.
When clouds decide to go vertical here on the Balkans, they sure do so with a vengeance. The week's heatwave, high humidity and constant sunshine were very beneficial to the formation of all sorts of cumulus clouds - many of which had decided to gang up together and form large storm systems that constantly interfered with aerial navigation. Down here in the turboprop levels, avoiding action was pretty much the only constant, resulting in flight tracks that even the best drunken driver could not have matched...

The South Coast is entering a period of high astronomical tides as Earth reaches perihelion (Earth's closest point to the Sun). Also, a low pressure system will cross the region this weekend. This falling atmospheric pressure will help further elevate coastal water levels beyond predicted tides, thus increasing the risk of coastal flooding.

ascend the life of realistic aspiration
and revel in the forgotten glory of nature;
the life less known is best known for perfect contemperature.

Woke up to snow blizzards this morning & this was the view from my window. I wish someone would let the Big Man upstairs know that it's supposed to be Spring!
