Shot from Ken's Barber Shop in Boise Idaho from June of 2002. Shots taken with the Casio QV-3500EX.

Minimal install was about 800MB.

Climbed to 1.62MB because of:

CCleaner, Colibri, Gimp-2.0, Grisoft, Luxor 1 and 2, MAME, Firefox 3.0 beta 3, snes9x, uTorrent, VLC, WinRAR, and Y'z Dock.

No "office" apps because I prefer using Google Documents.

Installed VMWare Fusion and Windows XP today so that I could run Microsoft's Streets & Trips software. This software works with my Novatel U727 EVDO card which has a built in GPS receiver. I can now get turn by turn GPS route directions with audio directions. It also has construction updates too. I'm still getting used to the software will post some more updates once I find out all the good features.

What's really neat is being able to get a read out of the number of GPS satellites signals that the card is receiving. I was also able to update the firmware of the card. The firmware update is PC based.

Yes - this is a PC inside of a VIC-20 case, and yes, the keyboard works too!

Please take a look at www.retrocomputers.eu for more info about my retro computer collection.

Doesn't this look like the classic windows XP screen saver. Also can you believe that there is absolutely no post processing except for some sharpening and a little bump in saturation.

This picture was taken in Palouse, WA on the scenic byway. I have some hundreds of pictures like this. Every single frame was a picture in this scenic byway. I couldn't help but to stop my car every one minute and take a couple of pictures. It was hard to avoid passing by without a click and weather was perfect with some wonderful clouds as you can see above after a terrible, rainy and cloudy saturday, I went back sunday and took these shots.

It is easy to use an Upgrade edition of Windows XP on a MacBook with Boot Camp, contrary to reports. All you need is a USB-connected external CD-Rom drive in which to place your old version of Windows (I used Win 98SE). It recognized that the disc was in the external drive automatically, without me even having to press a key. CompUSA has the full edition of XP Pro listed at $299.99 right now. I bought the upgrade edition during an instant rebate deal for $99. This IO Magic External USB CD-Rom drive is available for under $40 (see pricegrabber.com). So my total cost: $140. My savings: $300-$140=$160 ! Woohoo!

The Samsung NC10 is a subnotebook / Netbook computer designed by Samsung. At the time of its introduction, it was noted for its combination of a 10.2" screen and large 6-cell battery as standard, giving a battery life of up to 7.5 hours[1], a large hard disk drive and a release price of 499 USD (299 GBP).

Work Windows XP computer desktop, annotated.

I'm intensely interested in what people's computer desktops look like - which shortcuts they've deemed important enough to show all the time, how they arrange icons, what's on their docks, etc. I'm starting a new Flickr tag, desktopshowandtell, to use Flickr's awesome annotation to get people to show and tell me what their desktops look like and what software they use.

Take a screenshot of yours, tag it desktopshowandtell, and let me know in the comments.

New desktop wallpaper on my right-hand screen, showing the best thing on American television at the moment, Heroes.

Note, there isn't a big black bit at the top of my screen, my workspace is non-rectangular, with the left-hand monitor being portrait (mainly for code) and the right-hand monitor being landscape.

I finally got the pieces of my office desk up here, and with some cussing, drilling, glue managed to re-assemble it (a few of those cam/post things got mangled in my hast of packing up).

So on the right side, meet Order, the most clean and neat this office will be once I start sitting in the chair. On the left, is the prevailing Chaos of piles of crap- books, notes, cables, sloppily labeled CDs, papers, old conference programs, dirty coffee cups... who shall prevail?

FYI - I created the panorama images using the stitch mode in the Canon Powershot- it show the previous shot to help you line up good overlap. The PhotoSticher utility that comes with the camera was crap - it was curvy, and had huge mis-matches. To get a quailuty image, I had to launch AutoStitcher (free app from University of British Columbia) in WindowsXP (sitting in Parallels on my Mac). This in itself was a painful experience as Windows has to assert I have unused icons on my desktop (who cares? and how do I tell Windows I dont give a hoot), nagging Norton updates, somehow i trying to move an icon my stupid taskbar is stuck on the right side of the screen... well, lets just say I have to be highly motivated to even go this deep into Windows.

But Autostitch does this stuff best.

After a month of taking a break and trying to develop my own skins, I decided to do something totally wild. I decided to mix all types of Rainmeter skins into 1 big jumble. And I bring you, DJ. This setup totally goes against everything I believe: using less screen space. I wanted to lug down my 32 inch monitor from my dads computer but its too much work. All these skins are included in my Transformation pack, which you will find the link at the bottom. I mentioned that I would start Project "Rockstar69" and I will be on that project shortly. I will be using my 32' display, since it is widescreen and any setup with 2 sidebars looks nice in a widescreen format. As soon as my first successful project will be finished I will be cranking out Transformation pack v3. Project Rockstar69 will be having a total remake over, including rainmeter skins (waiting for arcs to come out) launchy skins and Visual styles. Stay tuned for that

Ok, so I kind of made a boo-boo last night. The Boot Camp instructions say that you MUST use a Windows XP disc with SP2 integrated. Since I didn't have one on hand yet, I decided to throw caution to the wind and use my Windows XP SP1 disc instead.

Surprisingly, Windows loaded fine as did most of the drivers. There were a few snags, however, and it does seem that the Boot Camp driver disc won't load correctly.

If anything, it was a good test to see how Boot Camp handles the removal of XP from the disc. Easily, just for the record.

The Doors made the "Morrison Hotel" album. Well, I got the Windows XP Hotel. It doesn't have the same kind of klang, though.

Reminds me of flying Windows XP logo screen saver, don't you think?

Those of you living in Helsinki: Can you guess what hotel? :)
