The resolution isn't as detailed as I'd like because I just had my cellphone camera, but I stiched together 4 shots to create a panoramic view from "The Top of the Tower."
Thank you to Northwestern Mutual for giving us a tour of the Tower & Commons for our Osher class!

A very snowy morning on the 6th of January 2017. And very cold, as I was nearly home from my trip to Wallingford to do some grocery shopping. I took this through my windshield at about 7:15 a.m. Cellphone image changed to monochrome in Photoshop.

The day before last, I uploaded a picture of the Blue Screen of Death, which is a screen that is all too familiar to users of the Microsoft Windows Operating System. I mentioned in my narrative that the 25th anniversary of Windows will be observed later this year. Which got me to thinking about Windows 1.0.
I made a visit to my basement archives looking for examples of some of the early advertising Microsoft did for Windows. What I found was a six-page, glossy advertisement for Windows that appeared in the January, 1986 issue of Byte Magazine which, at that time, was the pre-eminent microcomputer publication.
Microsoft was a heavy advertiser in Byte, and this is the first Windows advertisement to appear in that magazine. I don't know whether this is the very first Microsoft Windows advertisement, but it is certainly one of the first. I've left the images full size so all six pages can be clear read when enlarged to full size.
The release of Microsoft Windows 1.0 did not receive the kind of attention associated with later Window's releases. I haven't found any flashy cover stories in the PC rags that immediately followed the release of Windows 1.0 in November, 1985. With the exception of Mac users, not everyone was sold yet on the benefits of a graphical user interface. And, on the Windows side of things, there weren't any killer apps. Actually, there were barely any Window's application other than those included by Microsoft with the installation disks (it came on floppy's).
The other thing to keep in mind is that the early versions of Windows were really nothing more than a graphical shell on top of the MS-DOS operating system. Look at the screen shots and you can see how primitive it all looked, especially when compared to the Macintosh which had nearly a two year head start. The windows could only be tiled against one another. There was no overlapping at all, and multitasking was available but limited.
I hope you enjoy this trip down old technology memory lane.

I believe in standards. For computers, they're at: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ATX .
Why do I make my own? You can buy a computer that works as well for not much more.
All the name brands are proprietary (non-standard) design. Just wait till a repair or upgrade needs to be done!

Hybrid printing system:
A digital negative image appeared on a 6.08" genuine monochrome 2K LCD (no backlight itself, originally used for a 3D printer / no RGB sub-pixels), herein called "virtual negative", was successfully formed on cyanotype (or Van Dyke) photographic paper using an analog photographic enlarger (light source: 395 nm UV SMD). This virtual negative method differs in this respect from previous digital negatives on OHP film (contact printing) and analog negatives as attempted by group: www.flickr.com/groups/cyanotype_wenlarger/).
Image signal is output to the LCD via HDMI from a mini-PC (OS: Windows 10) with a built-in graphics board capable of up to 4K video output.
Due to differences in resolutions between those of image used and those processed in the LCD, the image needs to be rescaled in advance.
That is, in the sub-pixel direction, the LCD treats 3 pixels for each RCB channel as one monochrome pixel, so the original image in the sub-pixel direction must be resized by 3 times the number of pixels beforehand. For example, in the case of a 1620 x 2560 original image (2560 pixels in the sub-pixel direction), while not fixing the original aspect ratio, the 2560 pixels should be resized 3 times to 7680, and the resolution should be 505 (pixel/inch) and then converted to negative.
The condenser unit (= a unit in which two 16cm diameter convex lenses are set facing each other) was removed from my old Hansa patent enlarger for use in LPL Model 7451.
Due to the characteristics of the UV light source, such condenser unit is used instead of an original diffuser. Sufficient transmitted light can be given to the photographic paper surface for photosensitivity via the "virtual negative".
