Last night, my mother, sister and I took our sweet Ms. Victoria out to dinner for her birthday. Her husband died a little over a year ago and she is so lonely now. We've sort of adopted her as part of the family. Besides, she is from Germany and has the best accent and verbiage. How could you not love someone who regularly uses the phrase "pussyfooted about"?
It was a lovely evening and she laughed and cried.
Whether it was food poisoning or just a virus, I can't be sure but I can tell you that it was a rough night last night. Around 1:30 a.m., I put in for an absence and emailed my boss. I can't remember the last time I had to take a sick day.
Fortunately, I now feel assured that I will live. Ginger ale and toast are the best! The skies have been green-gray (at least when I've been awake) and I find it comforting.
The best part of being sick is that it reminds me to appreciate feeling well. And oh, how I appreciate feeling well.
#selfportrait confession time. i'm a nerd. have been since i can remember. tried on different coats of nerd. started as a child with bug nerd and evolved into book nerd. then there was photo and writing nerd. cool nerdiness followed with circus nerd! and now i've settled into yarn nerd. specifically crochet. not just your regular "forever long scarf" hooker, but the fine-detail kind that has fallen in love with amigurumi. the yarn world always seemed odd, even for my eccentric tastes. now that i've woven my way in i have found a meditative practice that results in adorable plush critters. leading me to believe that even the oddest sounding hobby can have a world of undiscovered fun.

Secret #18:: I look blah when i was a kid. I'm not the cute little girl (like Bianca here :P) back then. I always play outside that's why i was dark and had a lot of wounds because i love playing those rough games with the boys.
Anyway, you know how mothers are, they want their girls all dolled up so one time in an attempt to make me beautiful, she sent me to the parlor and had my hair curled. The result was disastrous! hahaha
