I bought this little teddy bear Christmas ornament today. I just loved his little knitted red sweater and matching hat. He's hanging from our tree now, looking very happy! :-)
Sunlight shining straight in to the lens and on to a wooden window ledge. I like the way the colour rains down on the darkened wood.

Today is a special day in our little family! Almost exactly six months ago , to the minute, Linda came to live with us. She is still exploring the flat and a couple of days ago she found the second window in the living area and can't tear herself away!

The others in this series were all found objects – but I have to confess, this one was posed!
The shoe is not mine, though; it belongs to an actress friend, and can also be seen here.

I think they have such little personalities, and once I get to know them, I can tell if they are in need of water at a glance. They live here in a little prickly pack, on the windowledge between the wood stove and the snow.

It was a dull day and there wasn't much point in going out, getting wet just to get a photo, so these kind carnations volunteered to be Pictrure of the Day!

Burton Agnes
Burton Agnes Hall
When Burton Agnes Hall was built libraries did not exist, this room was described as ‘Gentlemen’s Lodgings’. Following a collapse of the ceiling in the Long Gallery, the room was not used and became derelict. It was restored in 1951 along with the first section of the Long Gallery, by an architect called Francis Johnson.
The furniture in the room is all 18th century.
Thank you for your visit and your comments, they are greatly appreciated.
Feral Pigeon / columba livia domestica. Private site, Derbyshire. 25/09/15.
One of the 'regulars' and a real character, that resides on my site. I am unable to dismiss it as just a feral bird and love making images of him. He can always be relied upon to strike a pose when things are a little quiet with other subjects.

I quite enjoy spending time in the various hides at the various County Parks waiting for some feathered friends to put in an appearance. However, this little fella came in the hide with me. Cocky little Sod, he was so close I had difficulty getting the lens to focus and had to pull it back to 300mm to get this shot
In a week when we were taken over 800 miles (1300KM) through northern Spain and down through Portugal on a religious pilgrimage we saw many churches and cathedrals, and took part in many religious services
In the streets away from the centre of Santiago de Compostela and away from our group for an hour or so on our own we saw that someone had placed a hand knitted and crocheted doll on a window ledge outside a house, hopefully I think to await the return of the child that had lost it.
Amongst all the pomp and splendour of our week a simple act of kindness shone out just as bright.

Okay, I've got to admit it...I'm addicted to ranunculus!! I can't drive by a farm stall or flower store that has ranunculus displayed outside, without stopping and scooping them up!!!
These are from a farm stall I passed by while running errands yesterday. They had so many different colors of ranunculus--everything ranging from the palest pinks and yellows to the brightest violets and scarlet reds! I wish I could have bought them all!

This is an old green glass owl that I have had for many, many years. Its actually one of a pair. They sit on my window ledge in my dining room day after day and the light always reflects so nicely through them.
The color green has always been one of my favorite colors, especially emerald green!
Enjoy and thank you for your views!
Here’s a lovely old toby jug I spotted on a shop window ledge in Camden Passage, Islington, north London.
Toby jugs first appeared in the 18th century and were made by the Staffordshire Potteries in England. The name possibly derives from Toby Philpot, the nickname of Harry Elwes, an infamous 18th century alcoholic – but another theory is that it was named after Sir Toby Belch, the character in Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. So in truth, nobody really knows.
As can be seen here, the jug depicts a seated man wearing a tricorn and traditional 18th century attire, holding a flagon of beer and a pipe.
