FR Mulhouse 2006 - Trompe l'oeil windows. What fun. Notice that the artist even rendered the ripples in the glass in the right window.

the arts and crafts folk moved in and left their mark. Not that that's a problem, they even wanted opening the window to be a pleasure.
Seemingly impossible window sills. Designed by M.C. Escher? The illusion is caused by shadows cast by the sun from narrow window sills. This Florentine Renaissance styled "Finance Center Building" opened in 1927 on the corner of Montgomery and California in San Francisco, now owned the Omni Hotel.

There will be many more pics I suspect, as soon as we get the little bugger used to getting up while there's enough light!
A also finished painting the windows, the interiors around the windows, and attached them with wood glue. Still struggling with the shutters. I used a glossy black initially and did not like the shine. Then I tried black craft paint and that is too chalky. May mix them together to get something in between or spray them with a matte finish.
These are windows that I modified from the original kit. I removed the attached shutters and added strip wood on each side so the shutters could be painted a different color. I really like the windows without shutters, but will probably attach black shutters.
I am so ready for this wood working to be done. I want to play with minis and make fimo food!

A window covered with security bars.
If this were my window — on this particular street, in this particular position, in this particular city — I suppose that I would install a security system like this, too. (It isn't exactly a "bad" area, but it is one where many thousands of people walk past daily, and the window is right along the sidewalk.)
But that's not really why I made the photograph. I thought the gently suffused lighting was attractive, and I liked the combination of colors, shapes, and light and shadow. Aside from whatever intrinsic value or meaning this photograph may (or may not) have, it is another example of the fact that there are things to see everywhere, and that, in my view, photographing them is a useful way to "tune up" your ability to see things that not everyone might notice.
