“A window—it’s more entertaining than TV. Just ask a cat looking out, or a man looking in on a life he desires.”

The "Cabin Window at Star Park" refers to a 2011 photograph looking downriver from the boat launch at Gold Star Park on the Coosa River in Wetumpka, Alabama, capturing the scenery at twilight. The area, known for its scenic views and nearby "Big Fish" movie sets on an island, features tranquil riverfront scenes.
Today, MoniqueDK and I visited the 'Royal Routes' event in Delft: several guided walks through the centre of Delft, to visit places normally not accessible to the public. On one of these tours, the 'Picture Perfect' tour dedicated to fashion photography, I saw this mannequin looking out through the window in a small artist boutique.
I slided this picture to give it the feel of yesteryear, though if you look carefully at the print of the dress, it is not so old-fashioned. and shows the trademark of the artist.

Many of the Mexican people have very strong Catholic beliefs, which is very obvious with all of the beautiful old churches around the area. This church is located near the town square of San Jose del Cabo.
From At A Window by Carl Sandburg
But leave me a little love,
A voice to speak to me in the day end,
A hand to touch me in the dark room
Breaking the long loneliness.
In the dusk of day-shapes
Blurring the sunset,
One little wandering, western star
Thrust out from the changing shores of shadow.
Let me go to the window,
Watch there the day-shapes of dusk
And wait and know the coming
Of a little love.
This image depicts the interior of what remains of the abandoned jailhouse and morgue in the ghost town of Ballarat, California. The Panamint Range of Death Valley National Park can be seen through the windows, as well as portions of an abandoned truck. It was taken with my Nikon D800 on a recent trip to Death Valley with Mimi. A storm was brewing and it began to rain while we were photographing the area. I will be adding more photos from the trip soon.
Located just outside Death Valley National Park, Ballarat now has a sole resident – Rocky Novak, who operates the general store – and his two dogs. The town is off Highway 178 (Trona Wildrose Road), not far from the Mojave desert town of Trona. There are quite a few ruins remaining, including decayed living quarters, a jail and morgue, a cemetery, and a truck that belonged to the infamous Manson Family, who were arrested near the town after the 1969 Tate-LaBianca murders.
Ballarat was founded in 1896 as a supply point for the mines in the canyons of the Panamint Range. A quarter-mile to the south is Post Office Springs, a reliable water source used since the 1850s by prospectors and desert wanderers. George Riggins, a young immigrant from Australia, gave Ballarat its name when he proposed it should be named for Ballarat, Victoria, in the heart of Australia's gold country.
In its heyday—from 1897 to 1905—Ballarat had 400 to 500 residents. It hosted seven saloons, three hotels, a Wells Fargo station, post office, school, a jail and morgue, but no churches. Ballarat was a place for miners and prospectors in the area to resupply and relax.
In the 1960s, Charles Manson and the "Manson Family" of killers moved into a ranch south of Ballarat (Barker Ranch in the Panamint Range), and left graffiti and an old truck in the town. The 1969 movie "Easy Rider" has a scene filmed in Ballarat; after arriving in the town, Peter Fonda's character, Wyatt, removes his Rolex watch and throws it away before he and Dennis Hopper's character, Billy, head east on their motorcycles towards New Orleans.
Ballarat is a great place for photographers who love to shoot urbex/rurex and for those into paranormal encounters.
