Our cat Sable, shot & edited around 10 years ago with my first digital cam. She loved to birdwatch! We got her when we lived in Alaska from a rescue. She moved back to VA with us and was a big fan of cardinals. Awesome cat, really miss her. ;)

Window replacement, day 1. The two small single windows are the old ones. The two triple windows are new.
Fri. the 22nd out on errands and just a few clicks. Back to Cave and Elevator broken down. So Old Fart climbs 7 stories of stairs "Oh My!"

If I remember correctly, this is a combination of two vintage patterns I had on file. I pulled the design of the central sunburst medallion from one window, and the floral vine-work from another. Add a few antique jewels, and there you go.
The 1953 Western classic film Shane was largely filmed in the Jackson Hole Valley. Most of the set locations for the film have long ago been dismantled including the town that was built on the Antelope Flats and several other cabins. This cabin and two other smaller structures just next to it are the only set from the movie that remain. The three structures were actually real cabins of early Jackson Hole settlers that were repurposed for the movie. In a major plot of the movie, a powerful rancher was trying to force the homesteaders out of their homes to secure control of the valley for his ranch. This cabin was the cabin of homesteader Ernie Wright in the movie. From the window on the western wall of the cabin, you get a nice view of the mountains.
The larger of the two rose windows (13th Century, restored) on the S end of the transept of Notre Dame cathedral, Paris.
The window was commenced in 1258 and is credited to Pierre de Montreuil. The Cathedral was completed in the 14th Century. The architectural style is French Gothic.

LONDON - PARIS - CATANIA - ROME - LONDON ----- DAY 2
Photo from the second day of our crazy long distance rail trip from home (London) to Sicily. We spent the first day travelling from home in London to Paris, by Eurostar train, and were meant to the take an overnight train from Paris to Rome that same evening. But our Eurostar train out of London was badly delayed due to 'a fatality [unexplained - perhaps fortunately] on the train'. So we missed our onward connection to Rome and had an unexpected but happy second day in Paris. We left Paris that evening, on the equivalent Rome service.
By the end of the whole holiday trip we had seen things and sites from ancient Greek time to modern, so the trip felt like a mini Grand Tour. Or given the rich mythology of Sicily, Etna and the Straits of Messina (Odysseus, the Cyclops, Scylla & Charybdis, etc.) perhaps our trip was like a modern mini Odyssey of our times. Odysseus took ten years to get home. It took us ten trains - but no monsters.
