Clôture et saules pleureurs.

Muchelney is a small village on slightly higher ground on the Somerset Levels. It is the site of a Benedictine Abbey, parts of which are still intact. In wet weather such as we have had this February , the village can become an island, with all four roads impassable due to flooding. When the road is flooded locked gates are used to prevent the foolhardy from attempting to travel across the levels. On the day I visited the gates were open, though there was still one area of shallow floodwater on the road to the village from Langport, and also on the road on which I left the village to return home.

A line of willow trees on the lakeshore at Glenorchy, seen though the mist early one morning.

*The old willow trees in the early fog*

Last week at 5:45 a.m. around sunrise in the fog... you could only guess the sun, at least it added some color.

A capture from the archives: a silent and frosty morning at Midden Delfland.

To cool down on a day that promises to be the first full day with summer temperatures in the Netherlands :)

Beach Willow...

A large storm front rolled through Southern Ontario and hammered the Lake Ontario shoreline with heavy Winds and rain, just before the storm hit, we ventured into Jack Darling Park to take a few photos. Strong upper level winds blew the clouds to and fro; rising and falling this way and that, the heaviest thickest clouds pushing the thinner ones all over the horizon.

We managed to snap around thirty shots when the rain soaked clouds burst open and we were forced to find shelter.. this is shot of a weeping willow only a few feet from the turbulent shoreline .

In the last few days I have used old and new ways to stage landscapes, especially forests and trees in hoarfrost. I was particularly impressed by a small biotope with an old willow tree, especially when the sun peeked through the fog.

I saw these trees when I was walking through the park with my dog. I loved the light and the colour. More recently, the trees have been damaged in storms and drastically pollarded. Better for them, but it'll be a while before this green canopy exists again.

Another picture from a series of one of my favorite groups of trees in the valley not far from home.

Due to extreme cold and fog, hoar frost had formed and I waited for the sun to appear, which then came true for seconds.

Hanging branches of a willow tree, growing on the banks of a Swiss lake. The willow leaves were beginning to show early effects of the coming autumn.

Last week I happened to see that some of these impressive willows in the valley had been felled, I have no idea if a storm was partly responsible...

At the end of January there were some very beautiful morning atmospheres with temperatures below zero, some hoarfrost on the meadows and purple to gold colored veiled clouds, reasons enough for an early photo trip.

Thanks for visiting my gallery! Welcome, come in and look around! Come back soon dear friend!

Inspiration from my teacher, who hates to be called that, but do we not all teach each other … I found myself lacking in both inspiration and energy recently and I thought I would do something “moody” for him, but this is what happened … happily! : 0)

p.s. There is a very happy fence near my willow tree, but I found myself looking up at Mr Sparrow! ; 0)

“What day is it?” asked Pooh.

“It’s today,” squeaked Piglet.

“My favorite day,” said Pooh.”

As the willow renews it's cycle

tender buds appear

sparrows flock to feast on them

same thing happens every year

but this is not a weeping willow

it does not cry for all it's lost

but rejoices in the gifts of harvest

it gives to wildlife; there is no cost

love is free and bountiful

in nature wild and willing

given with the purest hearts

to serve and never count the shilling

today as I look out my window yonder

I counted my blessings many

the best things in life are really free

and they don't cost a penny

in the silence I've been pondering

and found the answers I sought

what do I need; how do I succeed

the answer is simple and can't be bought

I look around without a sound

I step from room to room

there is so much love awaiting me

as I take up my Spring-clean broom

I dust away but leave the cobwebs

the spiders do me no harm

I wash the windows and the curtains

the strength I lost returns to my arms

I still have a little disability

but it does not affect me unduly

I push loose strands of hair behind my ears

my goldilocks are so like me … unruly

I have always been a little wild at heart

running barefoot through the fields

if time exists it does not trouble me

my days and nights are full and yield

plenty of delightful dreams and moments

that meld seamlessly into each other

carrying always inside my heart

my lost family; my siblings; my father; my mother

I know they watch me as I play

and maybe they wonder why I don't mature

but I am an adult when I need to be

but mostly I'm an imp and I adore

to explore the world through the eyes of a child

to behold the beauteous wonders

to absorb myself in nature where I

can weather any storm and set asunder

all the worries and concerns I often have

trivial little things and trifling matters

better to focus on the goodness that abounds

fill my soul up with the most wondrous of things

served heartily on a golden platter.

I was so thrilled to see this little bird!

It is a lifer for me...

Constantin Brancuşi, a native of Targu Jiu, was commissioned to contribute to a memorial monument to the fighters of World War I which was finished in 1938. His large sculptures, The Table of Silence, The Gate of the Kiss, The Alley of the Chairs and The Endless Column are main touristic attractions in Targu Jiu, Romania.

Yesterday in the Wittlich Valley.

I was actually there to take photos of this beautifully grown willow tree with the Bombogen church in the background. In addition, there was a larger herd of cattle grazing right there, only part of which can be seen here in the picture. While cows are now kept in stables all year round to increase milk production, these animals are allowed to go out to pasture in the summer months. They should like that.

Willow trees are looking lovely with their new spring growth.

HFF and have a great weekend.

A walk by the river to exercise the dogs today. Great for social distancing here... never saw another soul! ILooking around at the beauty it's like being in a dream where coronavirus doesn't exist!

Another rare occasion when there is 2 White Squirrels on the same tree! I have only seen this twice! Both of them are hiding from me and would not move!

I saw a total of 5 White Squirrels on this day!

The world famous willow tree photographed by me from the banks of Lake Wānaka , South Island, New Zealand. Situated in Roy's Bay at Otago, the Wānaka Tree or “That Wānaka Tree” as it's locally known is one of the most photographed trees in the world.

So sad that, since this photograph was taken, the tree has been vandalised with some branches sawn off. Hopefully, it will recover which is more than can be said for the Sycamore Gap tree or Robin Hood tree which was a sycamore tree standing next to Hadrian's Wall near Crag Lough in Northumberland, England.

A very cold and foggy winter day in mid-December last year.

A cute White Squirrel down by the river ran around the big Willow tree and hid in this hole to escape the photographer.

Then appeared out of the hole to keep and eye on me.I finally walked away, after 10 minutes. I could still see the little head in the hole even a long distance away, lol!

Last week in the morning just before 8:00 a.m. at the 2 old willow trees in the valley. A crow sat on the highest tree top to the right and made itself known loudly, while the morning atmosphere became more and more beautiful, especially in the sky.

We have many of these swamp willows (Salix species, Salicaceae), probably the black willow (Salix nigra) in the region that often are found along fences and hedgerows in agricultural fields. They are fragile but hardy trees. They break during storms but resprout and reproduce rapidly, thereby producing dense monotypic stands.

The golden morning sunlight streams down the valley on a beautiful May morning.

They are beautiful in their peace, they are wise in their silence. They will stand after we are dust. They teach us, and we tend them.
