I ran an errand this morning and photographed some flowers and a door ( on the back side of the Baptist Church ) with the iPhone 12 Pro Max; along the way. I used the Adobe Labs Project Indigo camera app to capture 32-bit HDRs. I ended up merging the files down to 16-bit mode to post-process them with the Luminar Neo plug-in.

I've passed this church a thousand times over the years and yesterday, I finally stopped. I didn't note the name or date of construction. It didn't matter, still doesn't. Cracked, layers upon layers, of paint....windows painted shut by those layers of paint....tin roof....rust. I saw it, not as a whole, but in pieces.

is a village and municipality in Žilina District in the Žilina Region of northern Slovakia.

It is known as the first folk architecture reserve in the world (founded in 1977).

The name is derived from a Slovak word čičman (a lumberjack who makes a noise during the work).

The first preserved reference to the village dates from 1272. After a great fire in 1921, the village was restored to its original appearance with generous contributions by the state. Until the mid-20th century, the village was a centre of sheep raising.

The municipality lies at an altitude of 655 metres (2,149 feet) and covers an area of 25.611 square kilometres (9.888 sq mi). It has a population of about 204 people.

Timbered houses with ridge roofs, galleries and pointed or linear wall decorations have been preserved in Čičmany.

Of particular interest are the very specific white patterns which are painted on the exterior walls of the houses to decorate them.

Recent research discovered resemblance between some of the Čičmany patterns to Runic letters symbolizing harmony, stability and fertility. The local folk music, special folk costumes and folk dances of the village have been preserved as well.

Got to admit, a few novice mistakes notwithstanding, I'm pleased with the way this turned out.

For Get Pushed: My partner was misst.shs. The challenge she gave me was:

I would like you to shoot an image in black and white trying to include the entire tonal range from black to white. The main focus of the subject however must be not the subject itself, but its shadow(s). The shadows should emit some sort of mood that the viewer should be able to easily identify.

I thought this was a great challenge. This is my attempt to satisfy it.

I thought to title this spitting duck, but does a duck spit? Probably not.

Neither the brush nor the paint are of any use but I seem to always have this reluctance to throw anything away. Perhaps there lies the reason for my having 3 [full] sheds in the garden and a loft full of "come in handy" stuff.

One day, one day....... :)

Posted for the Macro Mondays' group weekly theme of "Brush".

HMM to all in the group. :)

Yay, I posted 2 weeks in a row, what an accomplishment! Yeah I have to pat myself on the back :)

It was fun to play with the face paint again, I do miss getting messy and covered in colors. This time I went with this raw and coarse mood in the editing. I think it suits the idea of quite well. Let me know what you think.

This old bike caught my attention at a farm while we were touring near Lethbridge. I'm sure it's Vintage, must be an early 70's model of the Eaton Glider Bike.

A little old shed I often pass by on my walks. I've been wanting to photograph it for a while. I think black and white works here since its surroundings are quite chaotic. I may revisit this subject.

My fruit pics have been good to me recently. Entered them into a few competitions last year and they managed to get an honourable mention in the International Photographers Award 2008 for Fine Art - Still Life and was a nominee in the 3rd Annual Photography Master Cup (which I found out randomly last week when I was checking out who the winners were.
