Whitehead's Chimney - The chimney is all that remains of Whiteheads fireclay and brickworks near Clayton, Bradford. Whiteheads made sanitaryware and chimney pots. It was decorated in 1911 with the company's tiles and glazed bricks to commemorate Bradford City winning the FA cup.

Another shot probably taken on or about 18 May 1986, the day Whitehead cabin closed. 454 "Carrickfergus Castle" heads out of Whitehead with what is probably a Larne Harbour - York Road service. Close inspection shows the down starting signal with its arm missing, while somebody is walking up the cabin steps.

Peckett 0-4-0ST, 1163 "Whitehead" shunts about at Swanwick Junction on the 31st August 2003. The loco has been based at the Midland Railway Centre since 1999 and as far as I can ascertain, it's currently under overhaul.
Hazy late-day light, Elk State Forest, Cameron County.
Whitehead Vista, located on the gravel-surfaced Ridge Road, looks west into the Hunts Run, Russell Hollow Run, and Driftwood Branch Sinnemahoning Creek drainage areas. The streams have deeply dissected the Allegheny Plateau in this region.
I had the incredible opportunity to photograph this, my new favourite bird, at its nest on Mount Kinabalu. It took me a while to locate the nest (even with directions from the person who told me about it), not surprising given its unobtrusive shape and well-camouflaged walls.
The nest was in plain view of the path, but I didn't want to make the birds think I'd seen the nest by hanging around in the open where they could see me. I hid myself in the bushes on the opposite side of the path, the end of my lens sticking out, and waited motionless for half an hour for the adults to appear. When they did, they showed no sign of being bothered by (or even noticing) me, so I guess I did alright at hiding!
Over the course of an hour both male and female visited the nest at twenty-minute intervals to regurgitate fruit to the hungry chicks inside.
It was a great privilege to see Whitehead's Broadbill at all, getting to watch them at the nest was the icing on the cake. Coming away with a decent photo and knowing I didn't disturb the birds (the chicks, I'm told, fledged two weeks later) was the cherry on top!

My maternal grandmother Nora Whitehead from Blackpool, England. I never knew her, she died (of infective jaundice) eight years before I was born. She was a pioneer lady golfer.
Spring 1971 - probably May - and for some reason now long forgotten NIR put 103 "Merlin" to work on the Larne line hauling former steam stock. Leaving Whitehead with a Belfast York Road - Larne Harbour service, the first coach is from the LMS(NCC) "North Atlantic" set.

In Bury and in, unsurprisingly, Whitehead Gardens. It is a monument to Walter Whitehead a prominent innovative surgeon who died in 1914 and was put in place by his brother Henry The clocks on the tower came from Joyce of Whitchurch.
High in the misty montane forests of Borneo, the Whitehead’s Spiderhunter flits among blossoms in search of nectar. Endemic to the island, this striking bird—with its bright yellow underparts, olive-green wings, and long, decurved bill—is a true specialist. Its name comes from its diet, which includes not just nectar but also spiders and insects plucked from foliage. A rare and sought-after sight for birdwatchers, the Whitehead’s Spiderhunter embodies the beauty and biodiversity of Borneo’s highlands.
In NIR's "Corporate" livery, 450 class DTSO 787 takes the 11.10 Larne Harbour - Belfast Yorkgate round the curves near the "White Harbour" on a cold December day in 1992.
