A stunning pristine white beach, clear turquoise waters, sunny skies. This is typical of what can be found all along Scotland's north-western coastline. Seen on a glorious morning in early October!

This is the main beach at Achmelvich (Gaelic: Achadh Mhealbhaich) in Sutherland. The name comes from the Gaelic "Achadh" - a plain or meadow and "mealvaich" - sandy dunes. It is a (very) small settlement at the far end of a single-track road with a Youth Hostel, campground, caravan park, laundrette, shop and take-away.

Dogs are banned from the beach during the main tourist season and are also not permitted at the campground and caravan park.

Cabgan Island has white powder-fine sandy beaches along its coastline. The water is so clear and with the deeper parts so blue. The life underneath its waters is also quite diverse and colorful. The island itself is almost untouched. And it is not even developed to accommodate visitors thus once you set foot on this island you will have a feeling of being in a paradise all by yourself. The place is really breathtaking!

Boracay is a tropical island located approximately 315km (200 miles) south of Manila and 2km off the northwest tip of the island of Panay in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines. It is one of the country's most popular tourist destinations. The island comprises the barangays of Manoc-Manoc, Balabag, and Yapak (3 of the 17 barangays which make up the municipality of Malay), and is under the administrative control of the Philippine Tourism Authority in coordination with the Provincial Government of Aklan.

The island was originally home to the Ati tribe. The name Boracay came from words Bora meaning Bubble and Bukay meaning white sand. Boracay is part of Aklan Province, which became an independent province on April 25, 1956. Formerly undiscovered, it wasn't till the 1970s that tourism began to develop in Boracay, and the island became popular with backpackers in the 1980s.

White Beach is the main tourism beach. It is a bit over four kilometers long and is lined with resorts, hotels, lodging houses, restaurants, and other tourism-related businesses. In the central portion, for about two kilometers, there is a footpath known as the Beachfront Path separating the beach itself from the establishments located along it. North and south of the Beachfront Path, beachfront establishments do literally front along the beach itself. Several roads and paths connect the Beachfront Path with Boracay's Main Road, a vehicular road which runs the length of the island. At the extreme northern end of White Beach, a footpath runs around the headland there and connects White Beach with Diniwid Beach.

Great Exhibition Bay is a 30-kilometre (19 mi) wide embayment close to the northernmost tip of New Zealand's North Island. The bay was called Sandy Bay by Captain James Cook, but was renamed in commemoration of the 1851 Great Exhibition, though the reasons for this renaming are not clear. The Māori name for the bay, Tokerau, simply means "north". The beach remains little known because of poor public access. The cloud on the left would be part of the long white cloud which gave New Zealand its Maori name. Aotearoa was originally used by Māori in reference to only the North Island but, since the late 19th century, the word has come to refer to the country as a whole, including the South Island. The common translation is "the land of the long white cloud".

Malcapuya Island, A boat ride from Coron town to Malcapuya Island will take about 1.5 hour. The boats arrive on the north side of the Island. From there its a short walk over to the south side where a long stretch of white powdery sand welcomes you.

The water is shallow and you have to walk out quite a bit before it gets deeper. There are plenty of fishes fearlessly swimming around in the water and you can spot some giant clams at the bottom. The beach itself is undoubtedly one of the best beaches in the Calamian Islands, so if you want to spend a day relaxing on the beach Malcapuya is definitely the place to go.

Last night's aurora activity when it peaked at midnight was spectacular, with huge pillars climbing up into the sky easily visible to the naked eye :-)

It only lasted just 10 minutes while it was peaking like this - but what a 10 minutes it was!

Mindoro is the seventh-largest island in the Philippines. It is located southwest of Luzon, and northeast of Palawan. The island was divided into its two present-day provinces, Occidental Mindoro and Oriental Mindoro, in 1950. Oriental Mindoro (Filipino: Silangang Mindoro; Spanish: Mindoro Oriental) is a province of the Philippines located in the island of Mindoro under MIMAROPA region in Luzon, about 140 km southwest of Manila. Oriental Mindoro is touted as the country's emerging eco-tourism destination. In 2005, the Philippines was found to be the center of marine fish biodiversity and the home of the most diverse marine ecosystem in the world.

Oriental Mindoro evokes images of a genuine tropical paradise – white sand, crystal clear water, lush green forests covering majestic mountains and splendid waterfalls. With its largely unspoiled natural beauty, the province has much to offer in terms of tourism and other economic opportunities. Special interest tours such as mountain climbing, trekking, camping, caving, bird watching, island exploration, adventure trips, windsurfing, scuba diving, tek diving, scuba macro photography, snorkeling, keelboat and dinghy sailing are among the exciting recreational activities possible.

The Maldives truly is a remarkable tropical paradise. The stunning beaches, vibrant marine life, and luxurious resorts make it a dream destination for anyone seeking a serene and idyllic escape. Situated in the Indian Ocean, just southwest of Sri Lanka, it comprises over 1,000 islands spread across 26 coral atolls. However, it's important to consider a couple of downsides. Due to its low-lying geography, the Maldives is vulnerable to the effects of climate change, including rising sea levels. Additionally, the summer months can be quite hot and humid, with high UV radiation levels that may require precautions for those with fair skin. All in all, I feel fortunate to have experienced the beauty of the Maldives and crossed it off my bucket list. It truly was a once-in-a-lifetime trip that I will always cherish. While I may not have immediate plans to return, I will forever treasure the memories of this exquisite destination – Hideaway Beach Resort, Maldives

This is the beach where part of the film "Captain Corelli's Mandolin" was shot in 2000. It is located on the north side of Kefalonia, near Komitata of Erisou. It has white pebbles, while the green nature around with olives and cypresses give the deep waters an aquamarine, turquoise color. Definitely will impress you when seen from above, as you go down the from from Komitata. The landscape had become worldwide famous because it was depicted on the poster of the film "The Captain Corelli's Mandolin." Chorgota became known as "The Beach Pelagia 'from the first scene where we see the protagonist (the role was the Penelope Cruz against the backdrop of beach. The shooting took place in Sami and Antisamos the summer of 2000 and the movie starring Nicolas Cage premiered the following year, making Kefalonia better known worldwide. Chorgota is not a proper beach but here you will enjoy peace and tranquility under the shade of trees, gazing across the northern Ithaca. The road is paved, starting at Komitata and leads to Chorgota and neighboring beach of Agia Sophia.
