In the village graveyard of Yalova a large number of Turkish soldiers are buried. One of the soldiers can clearly be identified because of the inscription on his headstone which reads :

 

“This is the memorial of Major Ali Zeynel of Çırpan, Commander of the 14th Corps Engineers, a Çanakkale Martyr. 1915”

 

Today saw The Western Front Association, Annual Service of Rememberance held at The Cenotaph, Whitehall, London. The service is held to remember the courage and comradeship of those on all sides who served their countries during The Great War of 1914 - 18. Members of the Western Front Association and guests where accompanied by The Guard of Honour 7 Company, The Coldstream Guards, The Khaki Chums, Piper from the London Scottish Regiment, The Royal Star and Garter Homes, Children representing the Youth of the Nation, President and Chairman from The Western Front Association and members of The Victoria Cross and George Cross Association plus Ministers, Senior Military and Civil Servants (Dr Liam Fox Secretary of State for Defence, DPWV Mr Andrew Robathan, PUS, CGS, CAS, First Sea Lord/CNS, VGCS).
