Three well taken care of ex-B&O SD40's and 50 graffiti-free cars round the curve on the approach to Lee Ranch Jct. Being able to hear them work the power for about 10 minutes to keep the 4964 tons safely moving to the PEGS Generating station was topped off by listening to the RS-5T on the roof echo through the hills for the crossing just ahead.

The morning empty run to the El Segundo mine shoots by the rocks just off of Hwy 509 at a respectable 40mph. The old units have aged well and still know how to get the job done.
Western Fuels Association SD40-2 602 and two sibling SD40-2s lead a 50-car loaded coal train on the final mile to the Plains-Escalante Generating Station (PEGS), east of Gallup, N.M.
Lettered WFA for owner Western Fuels Association, the three SD40-2s represent the entire roster of Escalante Western Railway, a shortline that exists exclusively for the operation of coal trains from the Lee Ranch Mine north of Grants, N.M., to the generation plant just off the former Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe mainline. Save for this approximately three-mile spur running west of Escalante Jct., the train runs over BNSF's Lee Ranch Subdivision.

Promoting the Christmas Pantomime at the Nottingham Playhouse, appropriately Robin Hood in an all over advertising livery is Nottingham City Transport 601 (YP63 WFA) standing outside Victoria Centre, Nottingham, 15th November 2018. YP63 WFA is a Scania N230UD chassis fitted with a ADL Enviro 400 H47/27F body which entered service in December 2013.
Pioneering NCT E400 601 was next in line, on a repeat allocation of what I actually caught two days before (when I saw the Speedy Trident). It makes its arrival into the city centre down Mansfield Road with a 16 on 25.4.22
Although in the E400 spare mini-deluge it was the only bus to have a fleet number ending in 1, it was one of three to have the registration ending in the letter A!

King of the spares right now is the 48, as all but three of the branded buses have been removed and repainted. This time it's 601 - NCT's First E400 - passing by on its way to Clifton on the route that's more silver than navy these days.
I have to say, the new spare livery has absolutely turned 601 and the other 63 plate spares around, despite not being such a massive change. A subtle change in the shade of silver has occurred, removing the 'discoloured' look of the old livery, while the bland (and often damaged) rainbow swooshes have gone in favour of the large teal portion at the rear. It's a pleasing shade and is large enough to add enough colour to make this spare livery interesting, unlike the old one.
As for the other graphics, the messy and often inaccurate 'from every 7 mins' plus random things like the NCT logo on the bumper (of all places) has all gone in favour of neatly placed logos and some free wifi/fares information, although the 'free wifi' window sticker is missing. 601 also has the benefit of Alcoa wheels, which won't go brown with grime so much like the steel ones did. I mean, dirty wheels made the old livery look even worse.

Recently repainted 601 out in place of an Omnidekka on the 4. It doesn't seem to be very common to get Enviro 400s on the 4.
I see it still has its shiny wheels even after repaint.

Normal spare allocation for a route that usually utilises 14 plate E400s - except for the fact that 603 has its all-over wrap livery which I never seem to get good photos of.

Spare decker allocations on 4.4.22 were basically 'take a route where there aren't usually E400s and put E400s on it', resulting in them appearing on the 88, 87, 58 and 44. The 58's one (which will have interworked across all the lime routes throughout the day) was 601, which has a kind of semi-celebrity status because although it isn't vinyl wrapped right now, it is E400 number 1 and has had Alcoas since Oct 2019.

Another unfortunate case of 'I wish I had my DSLR ready', but 601 wasn't stopping and I had to rely on the Panasonic compact, which to be fair has made a redemption for itself following some piss poor quality photos it produced over the last few months.
In a scene that's very Chilwell, 601 traverses Inham Road with a 36 to the city centre, while in the background a classic Jag mixes with some other vehicles produced before it was trendy to be automotively ugly; the Astra hatch and Hiace van have been staples of this area for a good few years, while the preserved Ford Transit minibus of Transit Express Travel can also be seen lurking behind a hedge.

The light was a bit... gone, but here's 601, looking quite different from its days as a semi-regular on the 36 but back on the route again and seen along Field Lane on 9.9.21

On the way back from spotting pink 30s, I happened across an E400 spare on the 36 in Chilwell - I remember there were two spares out and I wanted the other one, but can't actually remember which one it was. Still, I wasn't going to ignore 601 while it was there, so here it is on Inham Road as it begins a Vic Centre bound journey on 29.10.21
