After a night of heavy rain Mill Creek was swelling with water just below the pedestrian bridge. Normally you see people fishing it where it empties into Lake Ontario.

A moody forest shot in autumn

These are some of my favorite fall flowers -- New England asters (Aster novae-angliae). They can range from rose colored to bright purple. In our area of New York, they seem to always be an almost electric shade of purple. They really brighten things up!

The wind was hallowing, the snow was unrelenting and Lake Ontario was hidden from view.
