This model and it's variations was created in the Mid 80's. The inspiration of it is from an ash tray of the same shape which was very common in coffee shops and I remember having one in my house when I was a kid. Thus, I named it as, "Star Ashtray" . My friends thought that it deserves a better name and Nick Robinson renamed it as, "Star Dish". The models are folded from hexagons cut out from 15cm Duo-coloured kami. The 50 miles (80km) between San Francisco and San Jose California is known as Silicon Valley, the world's center of high technology, but San Francisco is becoming 'Silicon City', as I'll describe below. This is the Bay Bridge. The Golden Gate Bridge is to the right of this view. No HDR.

I was literally hanging off the cliff to get this perspective.
It is amazing how many high technology companies are located in Silicon Valley.
Apple, NetFlix, Quora, Cisco and Juniper (the backbone of the internet), Google, YouTube, Facebook, Adobe (Photoshop, PDF files), Intuit, Tango, LSI Logic, Symantic, Nvidia, Hewlet Packard, eBay, PayPal, Yahoo, Palm, Intel (in almost every computer), AMD and Applied Materials (the rest of the chips inside nearly all computers), turntable.fm (crack for the head) vmWare (virtual servers), Appcelerator (a great app dev. framework), Y-Combinator (The birthplace of numerous startups), Mozilla (Firefox browesr), Pandora (Internet radio in Oakland), Sun Microsystems, SmugMug photo website hosting and sharing, LinkedIn (the biggest corporate social networking site),Oracle (#1 database company), monster.com, Bloom Energy, Tesla Motors, Genentech, and many more.
But San Francisco is home to hundreds of high-tech startups and and better known companies such as Flickr, Twitter, SalesForce (cloud computing) Wikimedia (wikipedia), Zynga (80 million users play farmville etc.), UStream, Metacafe, DropBox, RapLeaf, Blurb (photo books), Dolby Labs, Stumbleupon, Digg (THE way to go viral on the internet until Reddit (Also in SF) came along), Craigslist (the biggest want-ad website with local versions around the world), Yelp (recommendations on restaurants and other things, soon worldwide), Autodesk, (the leading computer design software company), Typekit, QuantCast (Web analytics), Twilio, Square(mobile payments), GitHub, Riverbed,Heroku (cloud computing/online customer database systems), Second-life (the biggest online virtual reality game played by over 800,000 people around the world). And let's not forget Wired Magazine....etc...etc..
Genentech, Lucasfilm and Pixar are also within a few miles of where I took this shot.
There is an energetic feel to this place that is hard to describe, but perhaps a view from this spot is the best way to show it in a photograph.

Having considered deleting my flickr account today on account of the ongoing theft of my images and where they eventually end up, I guess you can thank (or curse) my husband for prolonging my stay for the time being.
I'd like to thank all of you who commented, supported, advised and sent good will. It has been a trying day. I'm exhausted. I have reported the site to the website hosts and to flickr.

There isn't any 21-Piece models today, 21st. July. Instead, I post the diagrams and hope that this series would be continue by anyone who is interested. Basically, the module itself is just a Kite Base with one reverse fold. Theoretically, an infinite number of modules is possible, simply by changing the angle of that reverse fold.
The diagrams on first page is for the 8-Piece model. The angle that needs to be changed for n number of modules is on step 2. The rest of the folding are the same. For cosmetic purpose, I have included step 5 to reveal some of the reverse side of the paper. This can be skipped if you are using Chiyogami papers with repeating patterns or squares cut from flyers.
The photo diagram is just an example of locating an odd angle by using a protractor. I have included a table to show the angles for 5 to 25 modules assemblies. For more modules, the formula to obtain the angle is simply, 360 divided by n, where n represents the number of modules. Example, for a 36-Piece model, 360 divided by 36 = 10 degrees.

I have sent the above email to many website hosting companies and have had many of my photos removed that were illegally posted on websites they host.
This is a stack of two of the sharpest images. I used my Nikon 500mm f/4.0P lens with my D3x, mounted like this photo-

I tried using just the naked eyeball looking through my View Finder, then again using a Nikon DR-5 Right Angle Magnifier-

I set Color temperature at 5,260°Kelvin.
I noted the angle of elevation of my Manfrotto's geared head was 30°
The slightest touch with my index finger and thumb would cause the extreme magnification of the Moon to vibrate, making focusing a challenge. "Breathe, hold, micro-adjustments" I would tell myself.. The renderings made with Live View at maximum magnigication were terrible. Well, maybe not to some who regularly view my wrok, but to my trained and critical eye, they were not as sharp as I was trying for.
The next challenge was to select the sharpest and most detailed image(s), when viewed at 100-300% on my monitor.
In the Astronauts own words from Apollo 11:
General Surface Characteristics
Color
"The general color of the surface as viewed close at hand is comparable to that we observed from orbit at the same Sun elevation of about 10°. Actually, the surface is pretty much without color other than shades of gray. Along the zero phase angle line (down Sun), the color is a light, chalky gray with a tan shade. As one looks toward 90° to the sunline, the color becomes a darker ashen gray with no apparent tan shades. At all phase angles, the surfaces of rock frag-ments appear to be a lighter gray than their immediate surroundings; however, where such fragments are freshly broken, the broken sur-faces are very dark gray, much like country basalt. Small gradations in color resulting from very small topographical changes were visible. Upon looking closely at the surface material (particularly the fine soil) during our excursion, we observed a charcoal-gray to gray-cocoa color, similar to that of a graded lead pencil."

So, I am going with my gut feeling that the Moon does not actually look white, neutral gray, nor is it made of cheese.

Was this description of the Moon's surface color localized in the Sea of Tranquility or the entire surface of the Moon?
The photos of Lunar samples I have seen do not look like shades of gray.
How does one rationalize this? Maybe the Gold Coating on the Astronauts' helmet visor cause a misperception of color. I do not know.
To me, it makes sense that if the Moon was blasted from the Earth, after a collision with another body, 4.51 billion years ago, then it should be composed of the same matter. The incessant bombardment of meteorites and cosmic radiation would alter the surface and its color, but not entirely.
Well, been super busy, for months, so this was really all I have time for. Not helped by some wanker from www.essayyoda website hacking into my photography website to intersperse their website, a sample essay PDF, and malware. I had to spend from March 10 to 14th identifying malware files, removing them, restoring my website, updating, backing everything up one it was perfect. Why someone would do that is beyond me. What did that person gain? Anyway, it all takes time away rom thing I need to do or rather do. Regardless how robust you think your computer/website secuity is . . . there is always some bored little shit out there, some where in the world having fun at your expense. My website Host advised I would need to hire a "Developer" to make all repairs. Fuck 'em! I am smart enough for an old guy to do it myself. And, I did.
My advice:
•Don't sweat it. No need to know computer code.
•First thing to do is Change Your Password to something "Strong" and randomly generated.
•Disable Plug-ins.
•If you know you have a 100% clean Backup, restore it.
•If not, find the corrupted files, delete them, restore core files, admin files, and content, then do another malware scan.
•Best to update to the latest files.
•Once your have restored everything and your website is working fine, do an immediate backup.
•In the future, when the bored bastards are at play, simply change your password and restore from the Backup.

Fat Face Limited, trading as FatFace, is a British lifestyle brand, based in Hampshire, which creates product ranges across women's, men's, kids, footwear and accessories. Advertise yourself - Using the internet to document your career
After investing your time and money into getting pictures and moving your career forward, it would make no sense in an internet age to not show your work online. Social networking sights have a lot of benefits, but you must add something else for people to see. Just having your own website in general can make people take you seriously. Depending on what you want to spend, you can open a site for fractions less than your gear investment, and perhaps even for free! Do your research on websites, hosting, and design, and go with it. Sites like Smugmug ( www.taylormahaffey.com )let you design your own site with your own host name for pennies a day, and will make people realize that your serious about what you do. As the years go on and you grow as a photographer, let your website grow and change things up. Get a better host, or even hire a website expert to do it for you. Browse photography sites on the internet and get some ideas. Just remember to make it your own and dont steal ideas from people. Remember, other photographers are your freinds!
Social Network sites are a great way to get your pictures out there for free. Among them the heavy hitters like Flickr, Myspace, Facebook, and Twitter will allow more people to see your info, and let you add pictures and links to your website. The more your link to your site on these pages, the higher your personal website will rank on search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Bing. Just remember to take the pros advice and try to answer emails, requests, and questions from all your fans. Trust me they appreciate it! When they become famous Concert Photographers, they will return the favor.

I have finally managed to find a website host that I am comfortable using.
SO, I will now only post here on Flickr, and my blog/website here. Take a look if you're interested in seeing (potentially) more photos than you do already, and reading more of my thoughts.

2016’s South East Bus Festival took place on Saturday 2nd April at Kent County Showground, and over 100 buses were on display. Free rides were given around the site, with opportunities to visit other heritage transport events and attractions. The festival was organised in part by Richard Lewis, Arriva Southern Counties’ regional publicity manager, hence the Arriva UK Bus website hosting the event information, along with the numerous Arriva Southern Counties vehicles on display.
The two main themes of were the centenary of the East Kent Road Car Company Limited and the fiftieth anniversary of the closure of Thomas Harrington and Sons Limited, the Hove-based coachbuilder.

Mourning Belle is still one of my favourite photos - I took it in late 07 when I was still a baby avi.
I recently found it on a Senegalese site - attributed as a photograph of Eurydice Barzane but with no link back to Flick or attribution.
Their 'site' allegedly allows 'moderated' comments on photos provided they are 'clear and concise'.
This is the content of my second comment to the copyright infringer: This photograph has been stolen from my online collection, which is subject to copyright. Please remove it within 24 hours or I will contact the hotel that sponsors your site with my complaint. This photograph has NOTHING to do with Senegal, was not taken in Senegal, and is my property! I'm sure this comment is clear and concise enough to be posted."

I was digging in some older shots, cleaning up my aperture and flickr and found some great shots. I re-edited some of them today and and I think they are worthwhile posting.
I've also been thinking how to showcase my "work" better. There are a ton of options out there such as photoshelter, smugmug or even my own blog...not sure where I go from here. Maybe just becoming more active on Flickr will do the trick for me :).
I hope you will continue to look at my photos and I am grateful about every comment and fave. It's not my best shot but the scenery is just too amazing for not sharing it with others.

If the folds are repeated for the back, a hexagonal hole will be formed in the centre of the star. In this model, the pattern on the back of the model has the same pattern as the 6-Pointed Star A. .

This will be the last model in this series that I will assemble. 36 pieces is a lot of paper just to make a thick flat piece pinwheel. The papers are 7.5cm squares cut out from flyers. This is not the maximum number of modules that can be assemble. I hope some other folders will take up the challenge to assemble more modules. I have already posted diagrams to fold this very simple module which is only a Kite Base with just 1 reverse fold. I have added the link to the diagrams below. Many thanks to Andrey Hechuev's 8-Piece New-Found Hope Star which has inspired me to come up with this Expandable Pinwheel Series.
