IE8 actually looks the best on Windows. Safari is a little too bold while Chrome/Firefox have terrible fonts.
(Oddly Firefox 3 on the Mac looks basically like Safari on the Mac)

A small sample of this isn't too bad, but when it's your entire website (which I've just seen) it really is bloody awful trying to read it.
This screenshot is Montserrat from Google web fonts as rendered in webkit on PC. 12px, 14px and 16px look dreadful. 13px and 15px are ok; 16px and up are readable although some steps like 19px are still bad. Note - used very large (60+) as heading text, it looks awesome.
Worth noting this kind of problem/jagged effect is fairly common and happens to many other typefaces.

Some things remain a mystery though, so it's hard to tell what's really going on. The economy has been "recovering" much slower than historically. Why is that? Job growth has been very anemic, and the only reason the unemployment rate isn't worse is because so many people have left the labor force altogether. Is that natural for this moment in history, or is it a result of the weak economy or government policy? During the Reagan recovery of the 80's, they'd have like 800,000 new jobs created a month. Nowadays we're lucky to break, even though the population of workers and jobs is substantially larger by now.Meanwhile the continued fiscal deficits since took office are huge and unprecedented, and there's no sign of them ending. (And you also have to put blame on the tail end of the Bush administration if we blame presidents, but the problem continues after 4 years of.). RIGHT NOW the debt is manageable, but if we don't contain it someday that will become a problem. Little remembered fact is that Bush NEARLY had achieved a balanced budget by the end of 2007 ... so how come just a few years later we're unable to reduce the deficit below $1 trillion, year after year?There is an old saying that begins with a question: How do you tell if what is going on is a recession or a depression? Easy. When the other guy is unemployed, it is a recession. When you are unemployed, it is a depression. At this moment in time, whether we are in good or bad times is in the eye of the beholder. To an auto worker, it is boom times. The industry is having a great year. To a home builder, it is a depression. The market is stagnant. As for the rest of us, it goes to the question I asked. Are you employed or unemployed. The answer will be directly related to personal status.Optimism is rising. Check the graphs for that. Buying is beginning to increase in major areas of the economy. Only for the Tea Party are things terrible even while they sit in their mansions in relative comfort. They want out of office and no matter how good things get, they will see the world as a mess until the get their goal or get dumped by the tides of history.
If anyone has upgraded to Snow Leopard notices that text rendering is severely messed up. In fact Safari 3.0 was leaps better, not sure what the issue is.

widely adopted. Google uses it for Android’s browser, Palm uses it, Nokia uses it, and RIM (Blackberry) has announced they will use it too. Almost every smartphone web browser other than Microsoft’s uses WebKit. By making its WebKit technology open, Apple has set the standard for mobile web browsers.
Second, there’s the “full web”.
Adobe has repeatedly said that Apple mobile devices cannot access “the full web” because 75% of video on the web is in Flash. What they don’t say is that almost all this video is also available in a more modern format, H.264, and viewable on iPhones, iPods and iPads. YouTube, with an estimated 40% of the web’s video, shines in an app bundled on all Apple mobile devices, with the iPad offering perhaps the best YouTube discovery and viewing experience ever. Add to this video from Vimeo, Netflix, Facebook, ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, ESPN, NPR, Time, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Sports Illustrated, People, National Geographic, and many, many others. iPhone, iPod and iPad users aren’t missing much video.
Another Adobe claim is that Apple devices cannot play Flash games. This is true. Fortunately, there are over 50,000 games and entertainment titles on the App Store, and many of them are free. There are more games and entertainment titles available for iPhone, iPod and iPad than for any other platform in the world.
Third, there’s reliability, security and performance.
Symantec recently highlighted Flash for having one of the worst security records in 2009. We also know first hand that Flash is the number one reason Macs crash. We have been working with Adobe to fix these problems, but they have persisted for several years now. We don’t want to reduce the reliability and security of our iPhones, iPods and iPads by adding Flash.
In addition, Flash has not performed well on mobile devices. We have routinely asked Adobe to show us Flash performing well on a mobile device, any mobile device, for a few years now. We have never seen it. Adobe publicly said that Flash would ship on a smartphone in early 2009, then the second half of 2009, then the first half of 2010, and now they say the second half of 2010. We think it will eventually ship, but we’re glad we didn’t hold our breath. Who knows how it will perform?
Fourth, there’s battery life.
To achieve long battery life when playing video, mobile devices must decode the video in hardware; decoding it in software uses too much power. Many of the chips used in modern mobile devices contain a decoder called H.264 – an industry standard that is used in every Blu-ray DVD player and has been adopted by Apple, Google (YouTube), Vimeo, Netflix and many other companies.
Although Flash has recently added support for H.264, the video on almost all Flash websites currently requires an older generation decoder that is not implemented in mobile chips and must be run in software. The difference is striking: on an iPhone, for

1° GIORNO: MONTEPUCIANO
Arrivo del Vostro gruppo in tarda mattinata a Montepulciano. La cittadina
costruita come la perla del Cinquecento per le sue numerose opere
architettoniche di quel periodo, si trova a seicentocinquemetri s.l.m su un poggio
prospicente la Val di Chiana, in un territorio già abitato dagli Etruschi e dai
Romani. La fama di Montepulciano è dovuta in gran parte alla produzione del vino
"Nobile", rosso d.o.c., decantato in tutti i tempi dai numerosi estimatori. A tal
proposito, consigliamo di visitare una cantina di produzione, in genere ricavate
nei sotterranei dei palazzi patrizi. Appena fuori dell'abitato si erge maestoso il
tempio di San Biagio, contornato da un bellissimo prato verde sul quale il colore
giallo del travertino risalta in modo particolare e cambia tonalità a seconda della
stagione, del tempo, delle ore del giorno. All'interno, lo schema a pianta centrale fa sì
che il suono si propaghi uniformemente in tutte le parti della chiesa. Pranzo in una
tipica fattoria durante le visite.

Sistemazione in hotel, cena e pernottamento.
2° GIORNO: S.ANTIMO – MONTALCINO - PIENZA
Prima colazione in hotel, mattina: trasferimento e visita di S. Antimo, mirabile
esempio di abbazia in stile romanico-francese che appare quasi all'improvviso
dietro le morbide curve di una strada boscosa e fresca. Si stende su un pianoro
circondato da colline dietro le quali sono le cave che hanno fornito la pietra
stupenda con cui la chiesa è in gran parte costruita: l'alabastro che dona al suo
interno una particolare luminosità. Nella mattinata, visita alla bella città di @ REPARTO GRUPPI Messaggio:
Montalcino, arroccata su un'alta collina a dominio della Val d'Orcia, fianco di
questo colle protetto dall'imponente fortezza e costellato di antiche chiese e
palazzi. Consigliamo la visita ad una cantina di produzione dell'ottimo vino
"Brunello", rinomato a livello mondiale. Pranzo in ristorante. Nel pomeriggio
trasferimento a Pienza, la città del Rinascimento per eccellenza. "Nata da un
pensiero d'amore e da un sogno di bellezza" (G. Pascoli), prende il nome dal suo
fondatore, papa Pio II, che riuscì a farla realizzare in soli quattro anni dando
vita ad un gioiello senza precedenti, esempio di bellezza, armonia, perfezione
architettonica. Non mancano a Pienza attrattive per l'occhio: oltre ai numerosi
monumenti, oggetto di visita particolare, ogni angolo della città regala begli scorci,
panorami che si aprono all'improvviso e angoli nascosti, vie con nomi suggestivi e
poetici: via delle Serve Smarrite, via della Fortuna, via dell'Amore, via del Bacio.
Nei numerosi negozi di prodotti tipici locali si possono trovare, invece, numerose
attrattive per il palato: cacio, vino, olio erbe, ecc.

3° GIORNO: SIENA – SAN GALGANO
Arrivo della Vostra comitiva nella tarda mattina a Siena. Circondata dai boschi del
Chianti da un lato, dalle crete dall'altro, la città sembra adagiarsi su una collina,
non alta, in posizione centrale rispetto alle terre da sempre dominate. La famosa
città del Palio e delle contrade affascina per i mille colori delle sue bandiere, per
i suoi vicoli tortuosi, per la perfezione dei suoi monumenti gotici, per la fama dei
suoi illustri figli e per la bontà dei prodotti che vi si possono degustare. Visibile da
ogni parte dei dintorni, l'altissima Torre del Mangia domina Piazza del Campo,
centro della città da cui si diramano le strade per il Duomo, S. Domenico,
S. Caterina, Piazza Salimbeni, Via di Città, Porta Romana. Pranzo in ristorante.
Nel primo pomeriggio trasferimento all'Abbazia di San Galgano. Gli imponenti resti
di quella che una volta fu una potente abbazia cistercense si presentano suggestivi
in una vallata circondata dai boschi della montagnola senese e dal corso del fiume
Merse. Quello che rimane del maestoso complesso incute stupore e meraviglia
mentre, poco di più a nord, la chiesetta di Montesiepi conserva la famosa
"spada nella roccia" che evoca il mito di S. Galgano ma che, al contrario della
leggenda Excalibur, si può vedere, toccare e non soltanto immaginare.

Popular messaging app WhatsApp has been updated, adding support for 3D Touch. WhatsApp has updated its #iOS client for 3D Touch to its iPhone app last month, now this updated version of Whatsapp will support for #Apple's Peek and Pop 3D Touch features.
What is Peek?
By using this feature, one can preview the content of an app without opening it.
What is Pop?
Pop requires a hard press, confirming that you want to view the same content and also navigate it.
With support of these peek and pop features, a WhatsApp user can see their conversation thread with someone without actually opening it. User can also open chat quickly by using pop.
Apple's peek and pop 3D Touch capabilities also work with Mobile Safari (Safari is a web browser developed by Apple based on the #WebKit engine), #Google #Maps, photos and mail apps. The exclusive two new iPhone models iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are slowly being implemented by app developers to make use of Peak and Pop 3D touch.
User can download the latest updated #version2.12.11 of WhatsApp. It supports rich preview for links that are shared within the app. The changelog is the record that provides users the option to include a rich preview if that is required. According to WhatsApp team, it has also redesigned the setting tab, which includes the ability to view all the messages that you have #starred under "Starred Messages" newly and it also added the ability to response quicker to users on iOS 9.1.

Some things remain a mystery though, so it's hard to tell what's really going on. The economy has been "recovering" much slower than historically. Why is that? Job growth has been very anemic, and the only reason the unemployment rate isn't worse is because so many people have left the labor force altogether. Is that natural for this moment in history, or is it a result of the weak economy or government policy? During the Reagan recovery of the 80's, they'd have like 800,000 new jobs created a month. Nowadays we're lucky to break, even though the population of workers and jobs is substantially larger by now.Meanwhile the continued fiscal deficits since took office are huge and unprecedented, and there's no sign of them ending. (And you also have to put blame on the tail end of the Bush administration if we blame presidents, but the problem continues after 4 years of.). RIGHT NOW the debt is manageable, but if we don't contain it someday that will become a problem. Little remembered fact is that Bush NEARLY had achieved a balanced budget by the end of 2007 ... so how come just a few years later we're unable to reduce the deficit below $1 trillion, year after year?There is an old saying that begins with a question: How do you tell if what is going on is a recession or a depression? Easy. When the other guy is unemployed, it is a recession. When you are unemployed, it is a depression. At this moment in time, whether we are in good or bad times is in the eye of the beholder. To an auto worker, it is boom times. The industry is having a great year. To a home builder, it is a depression. The market is stagnant. As for the rest of us, it goes to the question I asked. Are you employed or unemployed. The answer will be directly related to personal status.Optimism is rising. Check the graphs for that. Buying is beginning to increase in major areas of the economy. Only for the Tea Party are things terrible even while they sit in their mansions in relative comfort. They want out of office and no matter how good things get, they will see the world as a mess until the get their goal or get dumped by the tides of history.
