I have been fascinated by acrylic pours for a while. However, I haven't tried doing them because they can be messy. With this simulation of fluid flow that runs in a browser, I can create such images without the mess :).
You can find the web site that creates these beautiful images here:

Your browser needs to support WebGL to generate these images.
The image presented here has been touched up slightly in Photoshop (made larger and a bit more vibrant), but this is basically what you get on that web site above.

The California coast is becoming a cemetery for the Monterey pine, its main tree species. The tree reproduces only when it burns, as fire releases the seeds from the cone. Due to enhanced fire-fighting efforts, fires are not going to happen. Controlled burning is as popular with the residents as Isis or Ebola, so no one in power will ever support it.

This is a screen shot of a project to create an interactive browser-based virtual reality walk-through of the historic Puget Sound ferry MV Kalakala. Steve Rosenow created this amazingly detailed model of the Kalakala (the model includes incredible interior details that aren't easily visible in this view) and I am working on creating the interactive visualization and navigation of that model in a browser using WebGL technology.
This walk-though is now live and can be seen at:
The Kalakala served as a ferry on the waters of Puget Sound in the Seattle area from 1935 to 1967. She had a very distinctive "streamlined" Art Deco styling that made her instantly recognizable.
The hull of the Kalakala was originally constructed for the Peralta in 1926, which burned down to the water line in 1933. The remains of that ship were then purchased and transported to Seattle, which the Kalakala was built upon.
After her retirement as a ferry in 1967, she was sold to a seafood processor and used to package seafood. She was abandoned some time before 1984, when her rusting hulk was discovered in Alaska. She was subsequently towed back to the Puget Sound area with the desire to restore her to her former glory. Unfortunately, that never happened, and she was scrapped in early 2015.
Aside from her pleasing aesthetics, the Kalakala has the distinction of having the first commercially available navigation radar, with the FCC issuing license #001 in 1946.
More information about the Kalakala can be found here:
and here:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MV_Kalakala
[Note: this description uses the feminine voice in the third person to refer to the Kalakala, which is the tradition in the naval literature.]
[Note: this image was updated on 7/4/15 to reflect the latest state of the project. I have now placed the model on a reflecting water surface that is dynamic in the browser, although this image only captures a static variant of that. In the browser version, the waves move, as does the reflection of the Kalakala off the surface of that water.]

I made my first videogame! Meet Honeybrick, the sweetest Lego honey bee you'll ever see! Play as her as she embarks on her first day of making honey. Talk to fellow bees and explore the world through the eyes of a tiny bee as you fly around collecting nectar from flowers. Use special abilities such dash and spin attack to defeat enemies, including wasps, flies, and spiders. Keep up your energy by picking up bee bread. Once you have enough nectar, return to the hive, fill the honeycomb cell with honey, and head up to the Queen Bee's throne room to receive your reward! It's the game everyone is buzzing about! Play for free now: play.unity.com/mg/lego/webgl-cgr
BUILD your own Space Racer and FLY through checkpoints, maneuver around asteroids, and grab powerups as you race towards victory!
You can mix-and-match the cockpit, wings, and thrusters of your Space Racer, and watch your own creation in action as you race against three AI opponents! The white triangle crosshair guides you to the checkpoints that you must pass. Hold the left mouse button to accelerate, move the mouse to steer, and click the right mouse button or press the spacebar to use a powerup. There are two types of powerups: Boosts and Lasers. Boosts make you faster, and lasers can stun opponents in front of you. Watch out: the competition can use powerups too!

This fine detail from an organic fractal structure programmed by Tom Beddard.
Tom's application "Fractal Lab" allows the user to move around (in 3 dimensional space) this 3D fractal structure, moving in and out to visualize fine detail.
This real time exploration (like a video game) is enabled because Fractal Lab is based on Computer Graphics Card shader programs which allow these ultra complex structures to be calculated many times per second, bringing the visualization to life with viewpoint based animation.
I'll say it again. This is the most amazing computer graphic art program I have seen in a very long time.
Wow!
See www.subblue.com/blog/2011/3/5/fractal_lab for details about Fractal Lab
Time to test out the new Flickr viewer for equirectangulars...
Personally, I think it kinda sucks. Low res, screws up the zenith and nadirs, autolaunches. ... and it's hanging for me in Chrome on OSX.
Use the SPI-V viewer instead.
update: I apparently had WebGL disabled in my browser (Settings -> Show Advanced Settings -> System -> Use hardware acceleration when possible). Geez, that took forever to find/fix. If you're having an issue with the viewer launching, test your browser here.
BTW, spent another two hours finding out why the Domino's website came up blank. Turned out it was an EXIF viewer plugin (headhands).
Can't find a way to fix the resolution in the viewer, tho, unless I make all my full resolution images available. And that's sooooo not happening.
