I've never liked spiders but their webs can look dainty, especially after a rainy day.

...went up the water spout. Down came the rain and washed the spider out. Out came the sun and dried up all the rain, and the itsy bitsy spider spider went up the spout again.

A few problems with this classic nursery rhyme:

1. This photo was taken before the storm last night. I was hoping that the spider would still be there this morning (the pictures I got were right before the rain had started... it was quickly getting dark, so all the shots I got don't have as good of focus as I'd like). The web was demolished and the spider was MIA as of this morning. Boo-hoo :(

2. Itsy bitsy.......no.

What a tangled web we weave.....

After posting the 2 previous pictures today , this collage was inevitable....

A spider web that looks like the radio astronomy dish at Parkes. What came first - the web or the dish? Probably the work of a Silver Orb Weaver Leucauge granulata. Paruna Reserve, Como NSW Australia, March 2010.

I was driving to Avebury and saw this school on the side of the road. There were lots of students walking around but none of them saw these frozen spider webs. It had to be the coldest day of the season so far.

These little fall bugs are getting caught in this spider web and caught the late fall day light.

Come into my parlour......

This busy spider was actively building its web along a wooded nature trail. I watched the spider make several circumferential trips around the web laying down silk at the rate of about 1 revolution per minute.

We walked to the bus stop in a foggy world of spiderwebs this morning, all perfectly outlined with mist. Beautiful and so interesting!

(That said, if you live in Madison and would like to be oblivious to the fact that our world is full of spiderwebs and the arachnids that produce them you may want to stay indoors this morning. The webs are *everywhere*!)
