A female bordered mantis (I think Stagmomantis limbata) grooming. This is the time of year we find adults in our yard. In this species, the females don't fly (although they have wings, they're not big enough to get them airborne), so if I spot one I can usually find it again. They are usually either green or brown, but sometimes have markings that are pink or even purple. Photographed on a black background then released where found -- in the garden right outside my front door.

A figure several weeks in the making. Sun is my favorite RWBY character, and I wanted to get him perfect. The hardest parts were his collar and shotgun nunchaku weapons.
Sun's eyes, shirt, gloves, belt and shoes were all made with e-tape. I used the same style of eyes as I did on Ruby, rather than use the standard Lego eyes, and I think they fit him really well.
His tail is a cut rubber band, which I feathered a bit to make it look hairy. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a good photo showing it.
His nunchaku were a big challenge, but I think I did them pretty well. The handles were made by cutting a Technic piece into the proper shape, then covering them with e-tape. I extended them with toothpicks wrapped in e-tape to thicken them.
I connected the two handles together with a small length of thread, glued underneath the e-tape on the handles. I then added trigger guards with e-tape.

The Racławice Panorama (Polish: Panorama Racławicka) is a monumental (15 × 114 meter) cycloramic painting depicting the Battle of Racławice, during the Kościuszko Uprising. It is located in Wrocław, Poland. The painting is one of only a few preserved relics of a genre of 19th-century mass culture, and the oldest in Poland. The panorama stands in a circular fashion and, with the viewer in the center, presents different scenes at various viewing angles. A special kind of perspective used in the painting and additional effects (lighting, artificial terrain) create a feeling of reality.
The Battle of Racławice was one of the first battles of the Polish-Lithuanian Kościuszko Uprising against Russia. It was fought on 4 April 1794 near the village of Racławice in Lesser Poland.
General Denisov, with 2,500 troops, had planned to attack the Poles from the south, while Tormasov's force of 3,000 troops blocked Kościuszko. Encountering Tormasov's force first, Kościuszko occupied a nearby hill, General Antoni Madalinski on his right and General Józef Zajączek on his left. Not waiting any longer, Tormasov attacked the hill by 3:00 PM, setting up their cannon. Kosciuszko inspired his peasant brigade with shouts of "My boys, take that artillery! For God, and the Fatherland! Go forward with faith!"
The first group of serfs captured three twelve-pound cannons and the second wave captured eight more cannons. Moving to his left flank, Kosciuszko led a bayonet charge when the Russians fled, followed closely by the scythemen, essentially peasants armed with the most rudimentary of weapons.
Can't help but being put in mind of certain current world events.
The model is 20 cm high (22 cm with the alien) and some elements like the pose and the weapon over the shoulder are inspired by the Predator character of the homonymous saga.
This is the view through one of the 'keyhole' windows of the Polruan Blockhouse. This stands on the opposite side of the mouth of the Fowey river from the Fowey Blockhouse.

The small town of Fowey was established when Tywardreath Priory granted a charter formally recognising the town in 1300. Positioned on the River Fowey at the point where it flows into the English Channel, the natural harbour made it a superb location for shipping and a flourishing maritime trade emerged with Europe. As with other coastal towns, such as Dartmouth, the sailors that operated out of the port had a reputation for aggressive, almost piratical practises. Such behaviour saw Fowey become a wealth town during the Hundred Years War as its sailors turned to privateering - effectively government sanctioned piracy. The privateers called themselves the "Fowey Gallants".
By the 1380s the Hundred Years War was turning against the English and the residents of Fowey feared they would become a target of French raids. Initially hiring a force of 160 archers equipped with the English Longbow - a formidable weapon that had recently won major engagements on land at Crecy and sea at Slurs - the town eventually built substantive defences in the form of two rectangular Blockhouses. These structures, which had thick walls and internal gun positions firing through key-hole penetrations, were positioned at Fowey and on the other bank at Polruan. Small calibre cannon were installed on both towers. Unfortunately they proved insufficient to stop a French attack in 1457 which led to the upgrading of the defences with a boom barrier - a thick chain that blocked access to enemy ships but which was dropped to the seabed for allied vessels. This chain was confiscated in 1478 by Edward IV - who had been offended by the behaviour of two Fowey locals, Treffry and Michelstow - and given to Dartmouth Castle where a similar defensive arrangement existed.
The defences around Fowey were upgraded in the sixteenth century as part of fortifications built along the south coast by Henry VIII to protect the Kingdom against invasion following the English Reformation. Fowey was deemed particularly vulnerable and accordingly St Catherine's Castle was built on the cliffs overlooking the estuary entrance. Thomas Treffry, a descendant of the individual who had upset Edward IV resulting in the confiscation of the defensive chain, oversaw construction of St Catherine’s Castle.
The invasion Henry VIII feared never came but Fowey did see action during the Civil War between King Charles I and Parliament. The town, along with much of the South West, was under Royalist control. However, in 1644 a Parliamentary force under Robert Devereux, Earl of Essex attempted to wrest control of the area to deny the King the valuable income from the local tin mining that was sustaining the Royalist war machine. The attempted incursion failed spectacularly resulting in Essex’s forces being encircled by a much larger Royalist army near Bodmin. The subsequent fight – the Battle of Lostwithiel (1644) – was an attempt by Essex to keep the road to Fowey open so he could evacuate his forces by sea. He had high hopes given Parliament's control of the navy but ultimately his plan failed as the Royalists secured full control of the Polruan Blockhouse and the high ground opposite the harbour denying its use to the Parliamentarians. Although Essex himself escaped, the greater part of his infantry was forced to surrender.
The two blockhouses continued to be manned after the war and, in conjunction with St Catherine's Castle, repelled an attempted Dutch attack in 1667. Time and coastal erosion has not been kind to the Fowey Blockhouse but the one at Polruan remains well preserved.

No one said that the US should stay in the Middle East forever, all the Kurds wanted was to create peace in Northern Syria (Rojava) which they've achieved to create. The Kurds are one of the most trusted allies of the United States, they fought together, they died together, all these honorable men and women who gave up their lives to defend humanity from the hands of Isis, it's just incredible, but then to abandon them to allow Turkey to commit ethnic cleansing on the Kurdish people, with use of chemical weapons, is such a betrayal. The Kurds saved the world from Isis, now the world must save the Kurds from Turkey! the Kurdish freedom fighters deserve much better...

My guess is that here we're seeing a mix of infantrymen and MG 08 crew preparing to "go over the top", but the casual atmosphere in the trench suggests that they're simply posing for the photographer.
The MG 08 required a crew of six:
Gewehrführer: Senior man in charge of the gun/crew. Usually an NCO, he nominated targets and oversaw the operation of the weapon in the field.
Schütze 1: Carries ammunition and is responsible for the steam hose. In combat he would lie behind the Gewehrführer and gunner (Richtschütze).
Schütze 2: Richtschütze. Carries and fires the weapon.
Schütze 3: Assists the gunner loading and keeping the weapon firing. Assists carrying the sled mount.
Schütze 4: Observer, carried ammunition and the sled mount.
Schütze 5: Carried water, ammunition and the MG shield. Also an assistant to the Gewehrführer.

I will spell this out for you if you don’t understand: The nations of the world are being politically and socially agitated (and we haven’t even remotely seen anything yet). How will this all end? The antichrist will come to power in the midst of all this great political and social chaos. (They cause the problem and they provide the cure…if you know what I mean.) He (the false christ) will come to save the day. He will be a knight in shinning armour, so to speak. “And no wonder, since satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.”
