It’ll soon be time for me to say goodbye to Kirklinton Hall. My mind wanders to all the other people who have had to say a sad farewell to the place since 1670

Located next to the 12th century de Boyville castle, Kirklinton Hall is probably built from its stone. Construction began around 1670 and the hall was extended in the 1870’s. It finally fell in to ruin in the 1970’s.

Kirklinton Hall been many things in it's lifetime, starting as a family owned restoration great house, it has also been a wartime RAF officers mess, a school for refugees, apartments, hotel, and 'The Border Country Club' which was a hotel, nightclub, and casino. Famous bands played in it's glass floored ballroom, and the casino saw infamous visitors like the Kray twins.

The atmospheric ruins now hint at the people who have walked before you, Norman knights, cavalier commanders, Victorian plutocrats, RAF officers, and London gangsters.

Wanderung vom Giggelberg - Bergstation Texelbahn (1565 m.ü.M.) durch das Schindeltal zur Zielspitze (3006 m.ü.M.)

Ankunft auf dem Gipfel nach etwa 4 Stunden. Abstieg zurück durch das Zieltal über die Nassareithütte (1523 m.ü.M.) zum Giggelberg. Reine Wanderzeit etwa 9,5 Stunden von Giggelberg zu Giggelberg.
