Die Herdentorswallmühle – auch Herdentorsmühle, zumeist aber Mühle am Wall genannt – ist eine Windmühle in den Wallanlagen der Stadt Bremen. Seit 1953 ist die Mühle als Einzeldenkmal in der Landesdenkmalliste der Freien Hansestadt Bremen verzeichnet.
Seit etwa 1815 stand auf der Gießhausbastion eine Windmühle, die 1832 ein Brand zerstörte. 1833 wurde am selben Platz von Mühlenbaumeister Berend Erling eine Windmühle erbaut. Seit 1889 ist sie im Besitz der Stadt Bremen. 1898 und 1950 wurde sie wiederhergestellt, nachdem sie durch Brand bzw. Kriegseinwirkung beschädigt wurde. Bis 1947 war die Mühle als Getreidemühle in Betrieb. 1998 wurde sie nach Vorgaben des Landesamtes für Denkmalpflege grundlegend saniert und dabei Flügel und Galerie erneuert und die unteren beiden Etagen für einen Gastronomiebetrieb umgebaut.

The Wall (Lasiommata megera) is named after its habit of basking on walls, rocks, and stony places. The patterned light brown undersides provide good camouflage against a stony or sandy surface.
The Wall favours short, open grassland, where turf is broken or stony. It is also found on dunes and other coastal habitats, as well as disused quarries, derelict land, farm tracks, railway embankments and cuttings, gardens and field edges. It is on the wing in two or three broods, between the middle of April and the end of October. It is widespread in England, Wales and Ireland, but increasingly scarce inland.
The caterpillars use various grasses, including Tor-grass (Brachypodium pinnatum), False Brome (B. sylvaticum), Cock's-foot (Dactylis glomerata), bents (Agrostis spp.) Wavy Hair-grass (Deschampsia flexuosa) and Yorkshire-fog (Holcus lanatus).

I went to one of our two local castles, and for the second year in a row, I tried to find a way to express the beauty of the displays while working around ropes and signage. I would love a crack at it with no rules or other guests!
