Ich werde zwar nicht mit den Hunden Gassi gehen, aber ich werde ein paar Tage unterwegs und erst gegen Ende der Woche zurück sein. Ich wünsche allen eine gute Woche :))

I'm not going to walk the dogs, but I will be off for a few days and be back by the end of the week. I wish you a great week ahead :))

Toward the light from the dark...

I like to take it steady these days...gone are the days of 15 mile route marches. This was taken on an enjoyable 4 mile walk in Ribblesdale last week...yeah 4 miles is just nice.

Yesterday dawned very foggy so I grabbed my camera for a quick walk around the wetlands before starting work. The phrase pea soup described the gritty polluted air in London during the winters. Our air is not quite so polluted but there is a fair number of wood burning stoves with particulate matter. (We have one too). But there was much beauty walking in the quiet fog at Frog Hollow.

“Walking bass” is a musical idiom which refers to the line played by a bass player.

It is mostly used in jazz tunes but also in early Rock'n Roll; the player plays quarter notes, slightly before the beat, so the groove gives the impression of a walk determined to move forward.

"Walking bass" est une expresson musicale qui fait référence à la ligne jouée par un bassiste.

Elle est surtout utilisée en jazz mais aussi aux débuts du Rock'n Roll ; le joueur joue des noires, légèrement avant le temps, de sorte que le groove donne l'impression d'une marche déterminée à avancer.

As I stand here in Riomaggiore, a picturesque village on the Italian Riviera, I am captivated by the scene before me. The colorful houses, perched atop the hills, create a mesmerizing display that seems straight out of a postcard.

The vibrant hues of the houses stand out against the backdrop of the cerros, or cliffs, creating a striking contrast that draws the eye. Each building boasts its own unique color, ranging from cheerful yellows and fiery oranges to tranquil blues and deep greens. They stand proudly, side by side, as if competing for attention.

The narrow, winding streets snake their way through this enchanting panorama. Cobbled and charmingly uneven, they add to the village's old-world charm. As I follow one of these alleys, I'm rewarded with an astonishing view. The street unfolds before me, sloping gently downhill until it merges seamlessly with the azure waters of the Ligurian Sea.

As I approach the end of the street, the scent of salty sea air grows stronger. The sound of gentle waves crashing against the shore fills my ears, creating a soothing symphony that accompanies the breathtaking sight. The water sparkles under the warm Mediterranean sun, inviting me to dip my toes into its cool embrace.

Looking around, I can see locals and tourists alike, all seemingly under the spell of this idyllic setting. Some sit on benches, engrossed in conversation or simply lost in thought. Others stroll along the shoreline, their laughter and joyous chatter blending harmoniously with the rhythmic lapping of the waves.

In the distance, small fishing boats bob gently in the water, their bright colors mirroring the charming houses on land. Fishermen prepare their nets and mend their gear, adding an authentic touch to the scene. It's a reminder of the village's rich maritime heritage and the close relationship its inhabitants have with the sea.

As I take in the scene, I can't help but feel a sense of tranquility and awe. Riomaggiore's multicolored houses cascading down the hills, leading directly to the sea, create a visual spectacle that is both striking and serene. It's a moment frozen in time, a memory that will forever hold a special place in my heart.

Lake Rosselot, Aysen Region, Chilean Patagonia

As you gaze upon the picturesque Lake Rosselot in Chilean Patagonia, you are struck by the beauty of the wild vegetation and towering mountains that surround the calm waters of the lake. The lush greenery of the forested hills cascades down to the shore, with tall trees standing tall and proud against the stormy grey sky.

The lake itself is a tranquil oasis, its crystal-clear waters reflecting the surrounding mountains and foliage with remarkable clarity. The surface of the lake is still, with no ripples disturbing the peace.

In the distance, you can see the jagged peaks of the mountains rising up against the sky, their rocky faces etched with deep crevices and shadowed valleys. They seem to stand as silent guardians over the serene lake, protecting it from the fury of the stormy sky.

Despite the ominous clouds overhead, there is a sense of peace and tranquility that permeates the scene. The natural beauty of Lake Rosselot is awe-inspiring, a testament to the enduring power and majesty of the natural world.

I had a super shoot on this occasion , a great sky and a reasonable tide too so that I got some nice reflections.

Image of an enigmatic man walking the roads of Northumberland countryside, England.

It was a very early Sunday morning, and I just came off from the nearby fields myself when I saw this man walking towards me from all the way of the horizon. I found the moment of his passing quite eerie and somewhat surreal as well.

Re-imagining that moment made me push the surreal tones and colours further than usual, it just seems to match the memory of my experience better.
