I love caves. Waitomo, NZ

A little piece of my holidays

Use red/cyan stereo glasses to see in 3D

Waitomo is the home of New Zealand caves and this is a stream, running on the surface past limestone "pancakes," before vanishing underground.

HDR: 6 different exposures fused (3 for each eye) to show highlight detail in the water as well as deep shadows.

Wide stereoscopic base-line (280mm) for hyper-stereo. (That is how 3D depth was retained into the far distance - step back, use a longer focal length, increase the stereo base, exclude infinity from the image).

Not a flattering photo I know, but hey, Black Water Rafting in Waitomo, New Zealand is worth the silly costume! You wade through the caves, jump backwards off waterfalls into blackness, and then inner tube down the glow worm lit caves

Taken from the road on my may to Waitomo.

Running through native bush in limestone, before entering the Waitomo Caves, New Zealand

3 photographs separated by one stop, fused in Photomatix, tweaked in Photoshop.

Was in Waitomo over the weekend and did the cave tours, there's something slightly freaky yet amazing about the threads these glow worms make
