Sometimes you just find things that can only be described as 'the best thing ever'!!

This Volkswagon Bus has been shortened enough that the front & rear wheels are just over a foot apart. In talking with the Owner, he told me that he has had this VW for 25 years and it is, other than the shortening, all original. When asked by someone else if it would pop a wheelie, the answer was "yes" with a large smile on his face. The only problem was that the wheelie's routinely tears out the rear end. He also said that he is in the finishing stages of building another one. I got some contact info but don't think he's willing to part with even the second one...

One I've been meaning to get a picture of for over a decade! More interesting than most VW Campers as it still appears to be in daily use rather than being a pampered summer holiday vehicle.

Packed to capacity with books, an with postcards and printed imaged covering all of the windows which mostly feature religious iconography

Well after months of just no inspiration to build, I finally had a good idea for something cool. I figured a simple and famous German hatchback was in order. The Corrado will almost certainly be a future classic since it's so simple yet fun.

UPDATE - 2020 has been a bad year so far for many reasons. My black Touareg was written off in the terrible Canberra hailstorm of 20 January. Insurance replaced it with a brand new "Reef Blue" model, this time with a sunroof.

My BMW X5 35i X-Drive died having a failure of the motor that drives the Valvetronic system, and in turn killing the car's ECC unit. It has been in the repair shop since late November and I'm NOT IMPRESSED with BMW, this is the third tow it has has in 8 years. So, I have bought a new VW Touareg "Launch Edition" 3 liter V6 diesel. Add $8k for the connected infotainement LCD system, it's great. I did over 600 km yesterday, and it returned 6.5 liters/100 km or 44 mpg in old Imperial terms, not bad for a 2 ton+ car that can do 250 kmh and can cool and massage your back at the same time.... BTW for some dumb reason they are not going to be available in the USA, I'm sorry, it's truly your loss...

Shot with the Beach House's camera kit, a 5D2 and Tamron 24-70mm f2.8, a great combo as a cheapie go-to.

Mk1 Rabbits other than the Cabrio are pretty rare here but the Mk1 Jetta is something else entirely; This is only the third or fourth I've ever seen.

The Volkswagen Beetle, officially the Volkswagen Type 1, or informally the Volkswagen Bug, is a two-door, four passenger, rear-engined economy car manufactured and marketed by German automaker Volkswagen (VW) from 1938 until 2003. The need for this kind of car, and its functional objectives, were formulated by Adolf Hitler, leader of Nazi Germany, wishing for a cheap, simple car to be mass-produced for the new road network of his country. He contracted Porsche in 1934 to design and build it to his exacting standards. Ferdinand Porsche and his team took until 1938 to finalise the design. This is one of the first rear-engined cars. With over 21 million manufactured (21,529,464) in an air-cooled, rear-engined, rear-wheel drive configuration, the Beetle is the longest-running and most-manufactured car of a single design platform, worldwide.
