(25/365) Vote! "To make democracy work, we must be a nation of participants, not simply observers. One who does not vote has no right to complain"--Louis L'Amour.

I won't get political on here, but I do have a funny story. I put this sticker on Evan's shirt and he left the room and went and played with Alex. Several minutes later he came into the kitchen and announced, "I voted for Robney."

Parliament has been promised a meaningful vote on the Brexit deal. But what, exactly, is Parliament being asked to decide? And what happens if Parliament votes the deal down?

At our panel discussion Raphael Hogarth, Research Associate at the Institute for Government, presented key findings from Voting on Brexit, the Institute for Government’s new paper on Parliament and the Brexit deal.

The paper sets out what the Government has to do in Parliament to get its deal though, and give effect to the withdrawal agreement in domestic law. It also identifies a number of risks to the timetable.

The vote, the politics and the constitutional implications was discussed by our panel:

The Rt Hon. Dominic Grieve QC MP, Conservative MP for Beaconsfield and former Attorney General

The Rt Hon. the Baroness Smith of Basildon, Shadow Leader of the House of Lords and Shadow Spokesperson (Northern Ireland)

George Parker, Political Editor, Financial Times

This event was chaired by Dr Hannah White, Director of Research at the Institute for Government.

Democracy in action. (Fuck Trump)

yup, i took a photo in the voting booth. :-)

The Billionaires for Bush were on hand at the 2004 University of Oreogn Vote Rally encouraging students to not vote in the presidential election because student apathy betters their agenda.

Voted all down the line under the Working Families column, for Obama & Dems.

Need to give the progressive wing of the Democratic coalition the support they need.

That most progressive people I know don't understand politics to this level is really consternating.

Take your rallies, your soundbites, your kissing of babies, and toss 'em right out the window. The only way to get votes is through song.

Wow, am I ever glad to have my "Thrifty Fifty" lens back*! That affordable little 50mm 1.8 lens takes such nice pictures with incredible depth of field!

*My camera bag was stolen from the car about a month ago so I lost my Rebel, kit lens, 50mm lens and the Tamrac bag itself. While I don't mind "having" to use Rob's 30D in the meantime, I can't wait for the insurance claim to get settled so I can get my own camera again. The 50mm is so cheap, $79, that I decided to just buy another while we wait for a check from the insurance company.

[Pinback] Votes for Women. National Equipment Co. ca. 1910.

I dropped off trin's ballot today. I can't vote myself, since I'm not American, so I pitched in on ballot delivery.

I'm not a very political person but there is something about this shot that I find powerful yet ironic at the same time.

Today is election day here in Sweden. I'm an anarchist, but I still vote.

Being dressed like this, the Social Democrat outside the voting locale didn't try to give me any Social Democrat ballots ... Maybe I looked so determined that he didn't care to even try?

(I didn't expect I'd fit into these pants. I made them when I was in 9th grade, and they were tight already back then ...)

Fifth-graders Ethan Bergantim, 12, as Mitt Romney, and Christian Cote, 10, as President Barack Obama, greet first-graders as they make their way to the voting booths during the Congdon Elementary School mock election in New Bedford on Nov. 1. Obama won. For more photos from the week of Oct. 29, 2012, from SouthCoastToday and The Standard-Times, click here ...
