I thought It was great-making it to early voting by 8:30AM. I arrived to find the biggest crowd I had ever seen-prior to Black Friday! So, I settled into the back of the line, thinking at least it's a cool morning by Florida standards. The hours wore on-by the time I reached the front of the Library bldg., it was nearly 11 AM-I was starting to cook. I hadn't prepared for a lengthy stay. I figured 2 -2 1/2 hours tops. It was a Carnival like atmosphere, as each affiliate for whichever seat shouted & handed out their portion of the Rainforest. I finally rounded the home stretch-the much sought after over-hang along the front of the Library. Along there, were tables and voting info from different candidates. Then I looked over to see Police officers walking over to one of them. When I got closer-I asked what happened. Apparently-Romney s' people called the Police because Obama's people were giving out Water??!! REALLY?????? All morning long there were people with wagons full of water, and people passing by with bags full of Granola bars, I had no idea they worked for Obama-but after cooking out there from 8:30AM-1PM I am grateful for the water and snack-I just can't believe someone thought that a Bottle of Water and a Granola Bar would swing the election-so much they called in the Police-or that the police had nothing better to do!!

I'm having a Fresh Faces contest on my blog. Clients had to submit images of their kiddos to have the chance to win a complimentary session (and 11x14) completely conceptualized by me. I choose location, style the session, and even provide the clothing. There will be one boy and one girl winner. Voting ends FEB. 28th!
I would love it if you could vote for who you think would be fun to photograph!

Monday is municipal election day in Ontario. If your municipality is conducting an electronic vote, you can probably vote right now and avoid a last minute rush of a risk of forgetting. If they are using paper ballots, make sure you know the hours and location of your poll.
Municipal elections, which include school board trustees, generally suffer from low voter turn-out. This is really a shame because no other general election connects the voters so closely to the politicians or can affect our lives more directly.
Voting is your right, your privilege and your duty. Don't let your neighbour decide for you.
Cornwall, Vermont USA. Citizens doing their duties on Election Day, 2004. Note the paper ballots, yes, in the 21st century! I thought humans couldn't vote without computers. Be warned neighbors • Be vigilant! • For you, election haiku:
On paper ballots
freely cast; fully counted.
One voter, one vote.
- But of course there's Stalin's haiku view:
It's not the people
who vote that count, but rather
those who count the votes.

India, the worlds most populous democracy will have elections this month to elect its Prime Minister.
this will be the first time in its independant history, that the electorate will be dominated by young people between the ages of 16-30.
the intent of this poster is to encourage more people to vote.
the colors come from the flag of india.
the mark on the finger represents that an individual has voted.every person will be marked this way with indelible ink.
the poster seeks to leverage the sheer numbers that stand behind the mega exercise of voting, india goes thru every 5 years
Here on the Lower East Side, voting was smooth and easy. At 9 AM there were lines but they moved quickly. Go do it.
Polls close at 9 in NYC, 8 in the rest of the State.

When you enter the voting room, a registrar finds your name on the list of registered voters and marks it. After you fill out your ballot, another registrar does the same. It's kind of sweet, actually, since here there is no chance you're going to get lost or collapse without someone noticing. Still, all formalities are followed.
This is a photo of the sample ballot for my state county and district I took on October 14. Sustainable Development Goal number 16 is Peace, Justice, and Strong Intuitions. Many sustainable issues and progress we hope to make needs the support of governing bodies. November will be the first time I can vote in an election and I am so excited. It is vitally important that young people especially get involved in the political process because if not, we are not being represented. In addition to voting it is important to actually research the candidates and vote for a person and their platform rather than a party. The Baltimore Sun sent out a quick questionnaire to candidates to get started on looking at each's stance on issues elections2018.news.baltimoresun.com/. One of their questions was regarding the Chesapeake Bay and what steps Maryland should take to protect it. Among the responses were concerns about agricultural runoff and fracking. Hydraulic Fracturing to obtain Natural Gas is a disruptive process and uses chemicals that can also runoff and contaminate ponds, habitats, and groundwater. This is a concern not only for human safety but also for our efforts to preserve or restore wetlands which provide many ecosystem services including water purification. As water percolates through a wetland soil and encounters the immense and diverse life, many harmful toxins or metals or sediment is kept or used and water that continues on to the next body of water is more filtered.
today is voting day....please take advantage of the fact that we live in a country where we can exercise the freedom to choose our representatives. Time after time, I hear someone complain, particularly here in Florida, "how did that guy get elected?!", only to find out that the disgruntled party didn't bother to cast a vote. By the way that's how that guy got elected. Regardless of your party, gender, race, or religious affiliation....vote. You will be glad you did.
When we lived in the city, I voted in the basement of a Catholic church, which always made me chuckle a little, considering my particular vote. This year, I voted in a parking lot. This doesn't strike me as funny, but then, there's not much related to elections to laugh about right now.
May this be the part I play in the end of an error. Down with fascism! Go, democracy!
Having never been illegal and thus easier to conceal from the watchful eye of the law, lesbian history is perhaps the hardest of all to retrieve. However, it is now believed that many leading Suffragettes, including Annie Kenney and Christabel Pankhurst were lesbians. Reference DDX 1137/5/18.
The timer went off a little early, but I like it. It kind of looks like I'm floating. Taken outside my local polling station. I voted.
yospyn.com/photos/ft/index.htm - Better large. There's an Obama fundraiser coming up Friday the 17th @ Civilian Gallery in Chinatown. The NYC flying tortoises will be there, but meantime I felt like getting political. You could say this is a summation of where my brain is on the election.
