Leica M8, Elmar (coll.) 90/4. Somehow we all are drawn into this vortex, whether we like it or not. The dilemma for almost all of us in the West is that we are, on the one hand, spectators seeing the daily bulletins of violence in Ukraine and in Gaza, and, on the other, that through our governments we are indirectly implicated in war. I can see no other way of bridging this gulf than expressing publicly our opinion.

The title is a pun on “Vernon Subitex”, the character who lends his name to Virginie Despentes' novel trilogy. A vortex is "a mass of something, especially air or liquid, that spins very quickly and pulls matter towards its centre".

Taken looking directly at the sun with the hint of color around it. There was more color there than I imagined. Reminds me of a vortex to the afterlife..... or the eye of the dragon...!!!! There appears to be a swirl in the clouds around the sun.
