Before the rain came, the outdoor picnic benches were just the thing at the Von Trapp Family Kaffeehaus.
As I got closer to the place the rain started to come down even more. It would be impossible to get out for a good shot without getting wet, so a park and shoot it was.
Marienberg was founded in the 12th century by the noble family of Tarasp. Later the name was shortened to "von Trapp". In the 20th century some descendants of this noble family migrated to the US and made a career in music ("Trapp Family Singers", "The Sound of Music").
The abbey existed up to 1807, when the Bavarian Government dissolved the monastery, chased the monks away and looted church archives. The crypt of Marienberg dates back to the early times, most of the buildings seen here, are Baroque. Today this is an abbey again. The tourist office claims, that Marienberg is the highest Benedictine Abbey in Europe - 1340 m.

Yeah, I know.... it's just a squirrel. And this shot is lame. I'm sorrrryyyyyy to have given you such a pathetic photo, but it snowed today and tomorrow is groundhog day, so isn't it somewhat relevant to my life right now??? Ehhh, probably not. =/
On the plus side, wasn't it nice of Fredrich (ummm we name our squirrels after the Von Trapp family from the Sound of Music - my mom's idea) to have looked up for me?
Taken in Stowe, Vermont. This lodge is situated on 2,500 acres. It is managed by Sam von Trapp, son of Johannes von Trapp of the Austrian musical family Trapp Family. Baron Georg von Trapp and his wife Maria left Austria shortly after its annexation by Nazi Germany in 1938 and settled with their family in Vermont in 1942.
Note: Maria von Trapp was living in Stowe, Vermont at the time of the Declaration. It includes von Trapp's date of birth, occupation, a physical description, place of birth, current address, date of emigration, place of last foreign residence, port and date of arrival, her husband's name and place of birth, and number of children with their names, dates and places of birth.

I laid my eyes on the pair of statues before the ship had set sail, during the emergency drill exercise... It was a love boat, a boat of music surrounding us...
So during the formal night dinner, I gotta to walk and admire them.
"Music Lovers" Bronze
by Lincoln Seligman (Britush, 1950). "The artist's aim was to capture in bronze the tentative moment when Maria and Captain admit their feelings for each other, one of the most memorable and well-loved scenes in recent film history."
p.s. By now you ought a know these figures were sculpted after Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer who took the leading roles in 3-hour The Sound of Music musical movie.

The view from our hotel room yesterday, we stayed in the Von Trapp hotel, owned by the family made famous by the sound of music movie. They settled here because it reminded them of home.
Hello! My name is Gretel!
Isn't she pretty! I have to confess I had my doubts about middie, she looked cute but I thought I could not bond with her. Well, let me tell you: she is adorable! All those people who said she is not pretty got it all wrong. I am smitten with her!
She arrived early this morning, and I couldn't resist to do some slight customization to her. Her insides are really smart. She is really easy to take apart.
So there, if you had your doubts, dont!
She is my new pet and darling companion. Bring a middie to your home too!
Last thing added was vintage upholstery fringe on the right sleeve. I realized two sources of inspiration for me were: in The Sound of Music where Maria makes playclothes for the VonTrapp children out of curtains, and in Gone With the Wind where the newly impoverished Scarlet O'Hara creates a "French couture" gown out of curtains. Post-apocalyptic, indeed.
St Peter's Cemetery (Petersfriedhof) in Salzburg. Mozart's sister Nannerl is buried here and the von Trapp family hid here when they were on the run after a concert for the Germans.
There were a total of 8 of them (3 missing to the left of the photo). They seemed to be travelling members of a family having a lot of fun. They played well too.
Interior Of Paschoal Hall
Paschoal Hall is Kalaupapa Settlement’s main social hall. It was constructed in 1916 and became the heart and soul of the community. The hall was host to movie screenings, political rallies, theatre, musical performances, and dances. For dances, flowerpots divided the floor so that patients and non-patients would not mix. Seating in the upper balcony was reserved for non-patients, who were required to maintain separation from patients at all times – so much so that they had their own entrances into the building.
Numerous celebrities visited Kalaupapa and graced the hall throughout the years, including: John Wayne, Shirley Temple, Edward G. Robinson, Red Skelton, the VonTrapp Family Singers, Don Ho, and many more. The hall was restored and rededicated in 2009.

yes. 'tis another holiday snap. this was when myself, Stevo & Amanda went to Barcelona & we did turn into freakish Von Trapp type children in a sexy field yo.
i'm the scary middle child that's always left out of things/private jokes and as a result feels compelled to kill my siblings (i'm about to use my hands to slowly strangle them). sigh.
Donald Trump quips... "I Am Grail And I Will Destroy All Free Will… And turn this planet into my own toxic neo-christian gun-loving covfefe Apokolips"
Jesus replies "I am the Holy one so fvvk you Grail - you are just a Chalice with Malice."
Trump retorts "But I am the highest level of special! Nothing can be bwetter than me from the standpoint of water."
Jesus chuckles "Sorry Donald but I am Groot, I have a root, and you are merely a duck without a fvvk to give, so I win".
Trump thinks about saying something back, but walks out in a huff like he does in ever meeting or interview where he doesn't like the line of questioning.
I made her this little outfit, the shirt needs a little tweaking, but I almost got her measurements right by looking at pictures. This set will be in the shop in a week or so. I think the dress reminds me of the "play clothes" Maria makes the Von Trapp kids with the curtain fabric in The Sound of Music. So I named it "Salzburg Tour" XD
It fits Odecco, Tiny Betsy and Middie.
Hope you likt it!
