The Void - Batu Caves, Malaysia.

Multiple exposures HDR.

This was shot sometimes ago but i kept in my computer due to the complexity of the wide dynamic range and the nasty lens flare as i poised my camera straight up, and they just needed so much effort in post processing to overcome!

Happy weekend :D

“At first I felt dizzy - not with the kind of dizziness that makes the body reel but the kind that's like a dead emptiness in the brain, an instinctive awareness of the void.”

55/365 - Hiro sighed deeply and shifted his weight. His gaze wandered as he waited for his name to be called. He was tired but content in waiting, if it pulled him off base for a few minutes longer. He was still on duty, after all, pulling mundane maintenance shifts with the aircraft all week.

The cafe was almost empty with one barista hustling along - a thin, big-eyed boy with dyed hair and a shy disposition who kept sneaking peeks at his flight jacket. Hiro thought the kid might be no older than 16 - but many years later he'd realize he was much closer in age to his then 22 year old self.

"A cafe au lait for Hiro," said the big-eyed boy with a Japanese accent, holding out a large to go cup.

The cafe au lait was a taste he acquired when he was stationed in Europe some time ago. He had always been a tea drinker, but the cafes of Western Europe and his time in the Air Force had turned him into a coffee drinker.

"Thanks," Hiro murmured, his voice void of all accents despite his heritage.

Don't get lost in the void, Miku!

EINS pro Woche - KW5: die große Leere / great blank

In the end the void will get you, no matter how fast you run, how deep you hide or how much you try to pretend. There is no escape.

This is just an old, faulty concrete pour. In today’s world the contractor would use a vibrator or would pour wetter concrete. To me these voids look like a river or a river canyon.

Taken at Fremantle, Perth. Single RAW image with Haida 6 stops neutral density filter.

Decided to take a black and white approach to this picture, glad it worked out well.
