On Saturday, June 4, 2022, at the Cathedral of Saint Andrew in Grand Rapids, Bishop David Walkowiak ordained Deacon David Jameson, Deacon David Sacha and Deacon Logan Weber to the priesthood. Friends, family, clergy, and religious were present to support and celebrate our diocese's new priests.

On Friday, March 18, sophomores from all Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Saginaw took part in Vocations Day at the Center for Ministry in Saginaw. Students learned about what it means to be called by God and how to best hear and respond to his call. Those in attendance learned about various vocations, including generous single life, the priesthood, religious life and marriage. There were numerous speakers, including a married couple, an engaged couple, priests, religious sisters and more in attendance. The Most Rev. Joseph R. Cistone, Bishop of Saginaw, participated in the day and celebrated Mass. During his homily, Bishop Cistone encouraged the young people to be open to God’s will in their lives.

On Day 2, July 8, the cyclists trekked from Stevenson to St. Rose de Viterbo Church in Longview to celebrate a 6:30 p.m. Mass followed by dinner and a presentation on vocations.

Bishop Walkowiak celebrated the annual Wedding Anniversary Mass at the Cathedral of Saint Andrew in Grand Rapids on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2018. A simple reception was held immediately after the Mass at Cathedral Square Center.
Each year at this Mass, the Church in the Diocese of Grand Rapids honors the faithful witness of couples to the vocation of marriage and celebrates milestone anniversaries with them, their families and friends.
We thank married couples “for proclaiming in their daily lives the beauty, goodness, and truth of marriage. In countless ways, both ordinary and heroic, through good times and bad, they bear witness to the gift and blessing they have received from the hand of our Creator” (Marriage: Love and Life in the Divine Plan, USCCB, 2009).

Ronald Reagan Academy hosted their first Career Day so students can dream about the future. The purpose is for students to learn which vocations are in demand and what’s it’s like for someone who works in a profession. Representatives for medicine, insurance, education, music, art, law and numerous vocations shared their experiences with our students. Career Day makes students think about their future.
