This was a very fun and interesting shoot. The locations that Kiki and I chose were by her school. It was cool to see the spots where she spends most of her free time. It was actually a very cloudy and somewhat rainy day so we had to move the shoot inside when it got bad. I hope you guys enjoy this set I put together.

For my first visual reflection this week, I would like to introduce lutein, which is a carotenoid that is a yellow to red pigment found in vegetables and other plants. The highest quantities of lutein are found in spinach, kale, and yellow carrots. I saw this to relative to this week because lutein can act as a natural antioxidant for animals, humans and is widely known to protect the part of the retina in the eye that is responsible for central vision. In nature, lutein appears to absorb excess light energy to protect damage to plants caused by excess sunlight, which in turn has also shown to protect the human eye from cataracts and macular degeneration. This would in my opinion, be a nutrient that could act as a natural antioxidant in the same way that vitamin C, beta carotene, and vitamin E help to protect against the damaging effects unstable molecules that play a major role in many diseases. While lutein is crucial for vision health, it may also protect against atherosclerosis, which is a buildup of fatty deposits in the arteries that leads to heart attacks.
