From a series of pictures, carved in wood, depicting the story of St John the Baptist, made in 1531. This scene shows the Virgin Mary pregnant with Jesus meeting her relative Elizabeth (as described in the Gospel of Luke 1:39-56).

The cathedral of Notre Dame, Amiens, dates to the 13th century - founded in 1220 and consecrated some 50 years later, though some work on the church still remained then. The first architect was Robert de Luzarches, who worked on the church until 1228, he was followed by Thomas de Cormont who continued on the work for some 30 years, and then the work was finished by his son Renaud de Cormont. The cathedral is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

You've really gotta view this one large on black to see all the crusty detail!

"Mary set out

and traveled to the hill country in haste

to a town of Judah,

where she entered the house of Zechariah

and greeted Elizabeth.

When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting,

the infant leaped in her womb,

and Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit,

cried out in a loud voice and said,

"Most blessed are you among women,

and blessed is the fruit of your womb.

And how does this happen to me,

that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears,

the infant in my womb leaped for joy.

Blessed are you who believed

that what was spoken to you by the Lord

would be fulfilled."

– Luke 1:39-45.

"And Mary said:

‘My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord

and my spirit exults in God my saviour;

because he has looked upon his lowly handmaid.

Yes, from this day forward all generations will call me blessed,

for the Almighty has done great things for me.

Holy is his name,

and his mercy reaches from age to age for those who fear him.

He has shown the power of his arm,

he has routed the proud of heart.

He has pulled down princes from their thrones and exalted the lowly.

The hungry he has filled with good things, the rich sent empty away.

He has come to the help of Israel his servant, mindful of his mercy

– according to the promise he made to our ancestors –

of his mercy to Abraham and to his descendants for ever.’

Mary stayed with Elizabeth about three months and then went back home."

– Luke 1:46-56.

New Haven Railroad view near the coaling tower, with a visitation by the Railroad Enthusiast from their stopped excursion train at Cedar Hill Yard in New Haven, Connecticut, late 1930's. You can see various Railroad Enthusiast walking around to observe the locomotives and other equipment. On the right is a yard track and main line walkover bridge. The large coaling tower is seen in the center background.

Not a good picture, I had to quickly get my camera, and ever so quietly try to get a picture of these two precious souls having their morning chat.

Crow comes almost daily now, sometimes sits on the little table, and Mr. Puff sits looking up and clicking, and Crow clicks back. One day Mr. P was on the chair and Crow was on the table, they were having quite a little chat. Crow always leaves gently, lift of wings and soars quietly out of vision.

Mr. Puffs bald spot is getting bigger, but he still has his wonderful wings on his shoulders, and he is doing very well. Specialist says we have a little miracle happening, and that she thinks of him as Puff the Magic Dragon, who is not going to go quietly into his cave.

Amer Fort (Hindi: आमेर क़िला or Amber Fort) is located in Amer, a town with an area of 4 square kilometres (1.5 sq mi)located 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) from Jaipur, Rajasthan state, India. Located high on a hill, it is the principal tourist attraction in the Jaipur area. The town of Amer was originally built by Meenas, and later it was ruled by Raja Man Singh I (December 21, 1550 – July 6, 1614).

Amer Fort is known for its artistic Hindu style elements. With its large ramparts and series of gates and cobbled paths, the fort overlooks Maota Lake.

It is the main source of water for the Amer Palace.

Constructed of red sandstone and marble, the attractive, opulent palace is laid out on four levels, each with a courtyard. It consists of the Diwan-i-Aam, or "Hall of Public Audience", the Diwan-i-Khas, or "Hall of Private Audience", the Sheesh Mahal (mirror palace), or Jai Mandir, and the Sukh Niwas where a cool climate is artificially created by winds that blow over a water cascade within the palace. Hence, the Amer Fort is also popularly known as the Amer Palace. The palace was the residence of the Rajput Maharajas and their families. At the entrance to the palace near the fort's Ganesh Gate, there is a temple dedicated to Sila Devi, a goddess of the Chaitanya cult, which was given to Raja Man Singh when he defeated the Raja of Jessore, Bengal in 1604. (Jessore is now in Bangladesh).

This palace, along with Jaigarh Fort, is located immediately above on the Cheel ka Teela (Hill of Eagles) of the same Aravalli range of hills. The palace and Jaigarh Fort are considered one complex, as the two are connected by a subterranean passage. This passage was meant as an escape route in times of war to enable the royal family members and others in the Amer Fort to shift to the more redoubtable Jaigarh Fort.

Annual tourist visitation to the Amer Palace was reported by the Superintendent of the Department of Archaeology and Museums as 5000 visitors a day, with 1.4 million visitors during 2007.

At the 37th session of the World Heritage Committee held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, in 2013, Amer Fort, along with five other forts of Rajasthan, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the group Hill Forts of Rajasthan.

"Mary set out and went as quickly as she could to a town in the hill country of Judah. She went into Zechariah’s house and greeted Elizabeth. Now as soon as Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the child leapt in her womb and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. She gave a loud cry and said, ‘Of all women you are the most blessed, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. Why should I be honoured with a visit from the mother of my Lord? For the moment your greeting reached my ears, the child in my womb leapt for joy. Yes, blessed is she who believed that the promise made her by the Lord would be fulfilled.’"

– Luke 1:39-45, which is part of today's Gospel at Mass for the feast of the Visitation (31 May).
