Dolls................. Dolls.
I met the artist, Nelly van Nieuwenhuijzen at AW site for the first time about 8-9 years ago.
She was virtual but real for me.
Myself and Nelly, few days ago, at her Gallery, Holland.
I thank Nelly very much for having us as her guests... and must say that I enjoyed her wonderful ART of course.
Virtual ... Real... is it really a difference ... ? perhaps there is... She was and still very real to me.
Thanks for visiting.
I wish you a peaceful day. May it be SAFE... Here and in real world.

I went to a Karaoke Pub last night that didn't play any 70's music, at first I was afraid, I was petrified...

This is a screen shot of a project to create an interactive browser-based virtual reality walk-through of the historic Puget Sound ferry MV Kalakala. Steve Rosenow created this amazingly detailed model of the Kalakala (the model includes incredible interior details that aren't easily visible in this view) and I am working on creating the interactive visualization and navigation of that model in a browser using WebGL technology.
This walk-though is now live and can be seen at:
The Kalakala served as a ferry on the waters of Puget Sound in the Seattle area from 1935 to 1967. She had a very distinctive "streamlined" Art Deco styling that made her instantly recognizable.
The hull of the Kalakala was originally constructed for the Peralta in 1926, which burned down to the water line in 1933. The remains of that ship were then purchased and transported to Seattle, which the Kalakala was built upon.
After her retirement as a ferry in 1967, she was sold to a seafood processor and used to package seafood. She was abandoned some time before 1984, when her rusting hulk was discovered in Alaska. She was subsequently towed back to the Puget Sound area with the desire to restore her to her former glory. Unfortunately, that never happened, and she was scrapped in early 2015.
Aside from her pleasing aesthetics, the Kalakala has the distinction of having the first commercially available navigation radar, with the FCC issuing license #001 in 1946.
More information about the Kalakala can be found here:

[Note: this description uses the feminine voice in the third person to refer to the Kalakala, which is the tradition in the naval literature.]
[Note: this image was updated on 7/4/15 to reflect the latest state of the project. I have now placed the model on a reflecting water surface that is dynamic in the browser, although this image only captures a static variant of that. In the browser version, the waves move, as does the reflection of the Kalakala off the surface of that water.]

A woman in her 20s lying prone on a white sandy beach, glancing back at the camera over her shoulder. The figure takes up a large space from the center of the frame toward the lower left, with the viewer's eye flowing diagonally along the foreground legs and hips, the midground upper body, and the face positioned toward the upper right. The vast blue sea and sky are left open, creating an immersive beach portrait captured from close range. Character and Expression: Fair skin with freckles. Soft sheen on the cheeks, nose tip, shoulders, and back, naturally retaining fine skin texture and grains of sand. Subtle rose-pink blush, champagne-beige and pink-brown eye makeup, long thin eyelashes, natural under-eye bags, soft brown brows, and glossy pink-beige lips with a translucent sheen. Small catchlights in the eyes, with a gentle smile directed at the camera while slightly narrowing the eyes. Her eyes are a dark, deep brown in color. Clothing and Pose: A delicate frilled separate swimsuit in white with a subtle pink floral pattern. Carefully depict the thin shoulder straps, back ribbon, and light frills around the hips. The body stretches diagonally from the lower left to the upper right of the frame, supported by the left forearm under the upper body. The right elbow is bent, with the fingertips of the right hand resting lightly beside the cheek. The face turns back over the right shoulder, creating a natural twist in the back and hips. Fine grains of sand cling to the thighs, hips, and arms, expressing the weight of the elbows and body sinking into the sand. Background and Lighting: Crystal-clear emerald-blue sea, white waves lapping at the shore, distant rocky reefs, and green islets. A deep blue sky with few clouds. A pristine natural coastline reminiscent of a quiet outlying island in Okinawa, devoid of any lived-in feel. Harsh midday light pours down from a high sun position, casting bright highlights on the cheeks, shoulders, back, and thighs. Short, defined shadows fall beneath the body, with faint blue-green reflected light bouncing weakly from the sea surface. Composition and Camera: Horizontal 4:3 aspect ratio. Low camera position skimming just above the sand surface. Close-up shot with a wide-angle lens around 24mm, enlarging the foreground legs and positioning the face toward the upper right of the frame. The horizon sits slightly above the center. Sharp focus precisely on the face and shoulders, with the foremost areas slightly blurred. Retain the wide-angle sense of depth while keeping the body's proportions natural. Texture and Style: High-definition gravure-style beach photo under natural light. Avoid overly smoothing the skin; delicately render pores, fine hairs, moisture, and sand particles. Hair is a medium red, styled in twin ponytails tied with pink ribbon bows. Depict thin see-through bangs, layers around the face, softly curled ends toward the inside, and individual strands of fine stray hairs swaying in the wind. Keep blues and whites vivid, avoiding overly strong HDR or artificial saturation. Negative: Figure appearing underage, unnatural face, unnatural gaze, excessive body distortion, extra fingers, missing fingers, fused limbs, broken joints, floating elements, unnatural gravity, incorrect perspective, shadows contradicting the light source, excessive skin retouching, plastic-like skin, overdone HDR, text, logos, watermarks.
