I planted passion vines in our yard so we finally had a female visit this month - and we now have orange spikey caterpillars! They are devouring the leaves. And here's the passion vine fruit - a maypop - bigger than a large lemon. We used to visit a wetland meadow that was covered in passion vines - and the maypops popped under our feet with every step we took.
Was at the Lake Crabtree park and thought the vines made an interesting subject against the textured wall.

A young vine crosses next to a tree stump providing a color contrast with the textures and patterns of the fallen tree.
Native Oregon Vine Maple in flower,
the leaves are still unfolding,
and the small wandering tree,
is covered in these small flowers.
Up on the ridge the meandering vines sometimes make the climb interesting--and difficult, blocking the way, forcing detours.
Colorful vine maple and the white trunks of birch trees were a feast for the eyes on an otherwise gray day.
Seen on the approach to Morley Boat Launch on the Humptulips River.

I quite like these wee critters ,despite the damage they do, so I release them on some wild land not so close by. I do have a lot of them this year,any advice would be appreciated (discourage rather than kill) thanks.
