Some of us went up to the church on the hill above Vik at sunrise, before the crowds and before heading further east. It was a stunning morning.
Going through old photos, heres a colour version of my previous mono effort. think i prefer this version now!
The fascinating landscape of Vík, with its black sand and rock formations in water.
Wind was beyond crazy on that day and I was literally grabbing the tripod and pressing it down into the sand with my weight to bring the long exposures home lol
This take has got a nicer sunny light, but I feel the composition is a bit weaker than the other one
One of the things I was missing to visit in Iceland was the Vik beach with the stone trolls in front of it and finally, last summer I was able to visit it with @elenaprphoto .
A place where I could have spent the whole morning looking for different compositions and water textures as there are endless possibilities.
Finally I chose this shot where the big wave coming was about to wet me.

The church at Vík í Mýrdal, Iceland’s most southerly village, captured as the sun was hovering just above the horizon to the west/left. For various reasons it was difficult getting a decent perspective of the church and I ended up cropping quite a lot of the original image and sacrificing resolution. Nevertheless, I was pleased with the vibrant colours and light contrasts. Thanks for viewing.
An awe inspiring show of Aurora near Vik, in Iceland. This was just the beginning of what was the greatest light show i've ever seen.
