Day 4 of #vignweek2023 - This warrior seems to have gotten lost in the woods, and is all alone. Will he find his way out?
Here's my last entry for VignWeek 2023. The prompt is Contrasting Reflections. This time I decided to go for some big characters, instead of minifigures.
The vignette sits on a 16x32 base and shows two sides of Mulan. The tree is very rushed and not very stable, but I wanted something more organic to separate the two sides, instead of just a wall. So first and last build of my Vignweek campaign are Disney.
Of course great inspiration for this build are the trophies built by Markus Rollbuhler.
Behind the scenes video here:
Last day of Vignweek2023 with the prompt Contrasting Reflections. I wasn’t going to build for this as I had already missed two days but had an idea while talking with @paulvillemocs about the theme.
This uses a technique from the 1860’s called Pepper’s Ghost which is an illusion that uses a well lit subject reflecting off of a hidden piece of glass to create the appearance that something is there when it’s not. I used this technique to create the reflection of his younger self in the water. Light source is an older power functions light with the battery box hidden underneath the frame. If you want to learn more about Pepper’s Ghost check out the recent @bricknerdofficial article on the subject! It’s what inspired me to try this technique!
Thanks to @paulvillemocs for spurring me on to build today and thanks to @rebellug for hosting this fantastic contest! Huge respect for those who completed every prompt!
George has rearranged his bedroom and is playing pretend. Armed with a sword (broom), shield (piece of cardboard) , and helmet (trashcan) Sir George is ready to take on the dragon (dog with cardboard wings tied on) upon his noble steed (bed and cardboard head looking thing) in order to rescue the princess (cat) from her tower (cage stacked on top of books and dresser). After beating the dragon (still a dog) he must enter the castle (desk with blocks on top and blanket over the back) of the dragon king, whose flame burns eternally above the gate (desk lamp) and assault the tower (still a stack of books and cage) with the blue flag (toilet plunger and pair of pants) where the princess (still a cat) is trapped.
This was built for the final day of Vignweek, with the theme Contrasting Reflections

Jim was being stupid (again) and it landed him a trip to the principal's office (again).
This was built for Vignweek day 4 with the prompt "emotions unleashed." Can you guess the emotion?
Many have attempted to find the legendary treasure. Few have even got close, except for these two who recklessly stumbled through a hidden passage way. It even leads to a land of living mushrooms! This is my Day 5 entry for #vignweek2023
Rebellug Vignweek2023 day 3’s prompt was Unlikely Match-up. You would never expect a massive Nerdly to need to fight a Semi truck huh? For those who don’t know, check out this BrickNerd article. bricknerd.com/home/bricknerd-turns-ten-the-birth-and-deat...
This was built for day 5 of Vignweek with the prompt "Treasure Hunt" and the challenge not to make it a traditional treasure like gold or gems. While I can't say what the treasure is that they are searching for, if you've seen The Wizard of Oz you'll know, and if you haven't, shame on you! This build was a lot of fun, trying to design the minifigs without having the actual ones
Follow the Yellow Brick Road, Follow the Yellow Brick Road... Follow, Follow, Follow, Follow... Follow the Yellow Brick Road!
This is the scene from the Disney movie Sword in the Stone when Merlin teaches Wart how to swim in fish form, and Wart swims straight into the ground. It was built for Vignweek 2023 for day one with the prompt Disney, but wasn't done quite in time.
We may go to a deli to get fish, but where do fish go to get food? This build showcases a fish food deli-style. It was built for day 2 of Vignweek 2023 with the prompt color shading. This was one of my first attempts building at this scale, so please comment with any advice!
Legolas and Gimli are cleaning up after the Battle of Pelennor Fields when a portal appears and a new enemy emerges. Legolas manages to shoot several arrows, but with a wave of his hand the stranger knocks them out of the air, into the surrounding wall and ground. Gimli rushes in to help, but now its too late...

Darth Vader is intent on capturing every world in existence. Upon hearing of Middle Earth, he readies his armies, and prepares a portal. "They have only primitive weapons" he thinks, "their world is already mine" Little does he know what this planet has in store...

This was built for Vignweek day 3, with the prompt being to create an unlikely matchup. If you couldn't tell, this is a mashup of Lord of the Rings and Star Wars.
Day 2 Vignweek: Shades of Green (sand green, trans green, bright green, green, dark green, light green, olive green, lime, and dark turquoise).
A Beautiful Park
A beautiful park with a walking path and water fountain. One section is a play area for the children which includes two forts, a slide, spinners, rings, climbing walls, and a bucket of balls and flying discs. Another section has a picnic table along with flowers and a tree. The third area has a pond, a fruit basket, tree, and tarps for taking a nap.
