A small take this week, with much less value than usual. The drum got ruined at Wickerman 2015. The monitor eventually became Carolyn's primary monitor--so that was probably the only thing that made the week totally worth it.

BACKSTORY: Got up around 8:20AM, made it out driving by 8:53 and went out until 12:12 PM for a total of 3 hours, 19 minutes. Spent $38.75 plus ~$5.53 gas for 37.7 miles of driving (18.7 mpg @ $2.74/G), for a total cost of $44.28.
We drove to only 13 yard sales, stopping at only 4 (31%) of them. We made 9 purchases (9 items) for a total estimated value of $147.38, leading to a profit/savings of $103.10. So in essence, we multiplied our $47.38 investment by 3.33X.
(Also, if you think about it, the profit counts for even more when you consider that we have to earn $~117 on the job, pre-tax, in order to take home the $103.10 in cash that we saved. How long does $117 of disposable income take to earn, vs the 3.3 hrs we spent here?)
Anyway, this works out to a *post-tax* "wage" of $31.08/hr as a couple or $15.54/hr per person. This is kind of low for a yardsale± outing.

I moved the iMac G5 back to the living room and replaced it with a notebook stand. The SGI O2 is still my main desktop computer.
This is my desk. I love this desk! I have had it now for almost a month. Today I just purchased two 22" widescreen ViewSonic LCD monitors and they are awesome. I was looking for an LCD TV for my desk to go with my 20" LCD I already had but couldn't find one that had a good picture with Analog cable close up. I had the idea of getting a second monitor and a TV Tuner card for my computer. Well, couldn't find the same monitor I already had to get a second one. What is the alternative? Buy two new monitors that are alike. The TV Tuner card I got is awesome and the picture is great! Having two monitors and running them side-by-side is really, really nice. I'm sure after 1 week of this I will not be able to ever go without side-by-side monitors. I am very happy that I was able to color manage both using my SpyderPro2 calibrator and both of them look identical in every way. I'm very happy...

Press and hold the #2 and the Power button together until the monitor comes on and the OSD menu appears.

Up and down arrows - for moving up and down in the menus

A laptop computer with software including Powerpoint is intended primarily for use with the Viewsonic projector.
This is the factory OSD menu. "Factory Reset" is the default choice. Press the #2 key to accept the reset. This should reset the monitor and make it work properly again.
Holding down the #2 button and then the power button brings-up this OSD which had the additional "Factory" menu item at the bottom. Pressing the #2 button when this is highlighted lets the user into the Factory menu.

Crashed early Friday night and woke early Saturday morning. With the weather hitting its peak- we decided to take a drive out to Montauk. Coming from Rego Park- it said 2 hours but be warned…. Saturday in July out to Montauk on a single lane road equals a 4-hour trip each way. Regardless, it's a drive people in lower New York should do. Long Island changes so dramatically, driving through small beach towns, upper class society getaway communities, suburbs, wineries- you name it, you come to realize how diverse this area is.
After reaching the Montauk lighthouse we were informed it was $20 a head to, not only get to the base of the lighthouse but to get on the property surrounding it..... not happening, go down the gravel path and follow the large stone walk way that goes around the coast/lighthouse and at the end you reach this secluded little beach. Some pretty epic views are right around the corner and the waves from the Atlantic come crashing against the walkway.
I decide to take a break from my beloved SD1 Merrill and shoot with a camera I have always been fascinated with but rarely get to use because frankyl I am a poor college grad- funding myself through life, a Canon 5D Mark II. I popped a Sigma 12-24mm 4.5-5.6 EX DG IS HSM on the front to get the best coastal coverage and the images to follow are what I made with it. This lens is ...amazing to say the least. Post processing through bridge>raw>cs5.1. I also got my hands on a viewsonic 24" monitor which is so nice compared to working off my Macbook 13".

Crashed early Friday night and woke early Saturday morning. With the weather hitting its peak- we decided to take a drive out to Montauk. Coming from Rego Park- it said 2 hours but be warned…. Saturday in July out to Montauk on a single lane road equals a 4-hour trip each way. Regardless, it's a drive people in lower New York should do. Long Island changes so dramatically, driving through small beach towns, upper class society getaway communities, suburbs, wineries- you name it, you come to realize how diverse this area is.
After reaching the Montauk lighthouse we were informed it was $20 a head to, not only get to the base of the lighthouse but to get on the property surrounding it..... not happening, go down the gravel path and follow the large stone walk way that goes around the coast/lighthouse and at the end you reach this secluded little beach. Some pretty epic views are right around the corner and the waves from the Atlantic come crashing against the walkway.
I decide to take a break from my beloved SD1 Merrill and shoot with a camera I have always been fascinated with but rarely get to use because frankyl I am a poor college grad- funding myself through life, a Canon 5D Mark II. I popped a Sigma 12-24mm 4.5-5.6 EX DG IS HSM on the front to get the best coastal coverage and the images to follow are what I made with it. This lens is ...amazing to say the least. Post processing through bridge>raw>cs5.1. I also got my hands on a viewsonic 24" monitor which is so nice compared to working off my Macbook 13".
