Closeup view, I understand it went through a 39 million Pound restoration. Seems like a lot of money.

Too bad about the tourists who popped into view just as the picture was being taken. Try to imagine they're not there.

Although it was very cold down here at the waterfront it was a beautiful day.

The view of the countryside below the Roman Fort at Hardknott Pass. The massive boulder looked like yet another tower overlooking the hilly approaches to the fort. Note the Cumbrian walls stretching all over the hilly countryside. Some of them reach all the way to the peak! Cumbrian farmers must have had a lot of spare time on their hands!

Summer 2006- Holiday in the Lake District, Cumbria. Lots more photos to come.
Don't you love the Longfellow Bridge? Red line trains, duck boats (and other boats) and the Boston skyline all at the same time!
Other riverside views of River Nidd, Knaresborough
There are some views of the Nidd that I haven’t shown you yet. Please let me explain. When I returned home to process the photos of my short time in Knaresborough, I realised that there were simply too many of them – even after culling the number by half – to show in just one or two posts. Yet, selfishly, I still wished to show as many as possible of a photo-journey that I had enjoyed so much. (I do hope that I’m not simply that boring person who insists on wearying all and sundry with his holiday snapshots – I hope that, as fellow photographers, some of you will see some merit in them).
Anyway, I sorted the processed images into categories – some of the castle, some of the viaduct, some of the river, some of houses etc. I’ve tried to break the posts up, though, so that posts of any one category may be separated by posts of another.
Today’s post shows the river at different times of day and from different perspectives than before – and of bridges that I’ve not shown before. So, for example, the A59 bridge crosses the river from The World’s End to Mother Shipton’s Cave. Low Bridge separates Abbey Road from Mother Shipton’s pub. Some shots show views taken from, rather than of, those bridges – including one shot of visitors enjoying their time on the river, in one case trying to avoid a session of canoe pinball.
Tomorrow, the theme returns to some photos of houses in the town that, for one reason or another, interested me as I passed.
