A collection of shots from last night's "Nudie Party" at Cafe Pause, which marked the end of our "Nudie Cafe" event. The place was packed -- it was so hard to move inside that people were spilling out on the street, even attracting attention from the police -- and for the first time ever people were dancing and rockin' the place. Huge thanks to everyone who came, and to the great beats provided by Jens, PMKFA + Megumi, NIM, and Embee!

Alexandra Crouwers holds a unique position in contemporary art: she 'speaks' the diverse languages of multiple media and uses these to make multi lingual installations. She combines cutting-edge techniques as 3D modeling and animation with the archetype of image making: large murals.
More and more her work focuses on examining space as a carrier of images. In this she refers to the iconography that finds its origin in prehistoric caves, temples and chapels. In this new installation she approaches the exhibition space as an opportunity to suggest a portal to the mental world or, within religious systems, to the world of our ancestors, heaven, the underworld or the dead.

I was asked by the President of Malta, George Abela to work on this project to raise money for the Malta Community Chest Fund. Musical Director, Sigmund Mifsud had already chosen and orchestrated a series of rock classics pieces to be played by the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra. The Rockestra show took place on the 12th September at the MFCC. Ticket sales were expected to be around 3,000 but I am very pleased to say that they sold out at 12,000. This is the largest indoor event ever held in Malta.
The evening included pieces by Coldplay, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Bob Marley, The Eagles and John Miles, so had a strong 70’s leaning and I wanted to reflect that in the imagery.
The local artists were The Riffs, Jotham Saliba, Claire Caruana, Alex Bezzina, Raquela, Neville Refalo, Daniel Cauchi, Ruben Zahra, Paul Borg Bonaci and DJ Owen.

A SIDE MAN 5000 ADVENTURE
Darsha Hewitt et Nelly-Ève Rajotte (Canada)
Goethe-Institut

Darsha Hewitt explores the aesthetic and innovative potential of reviving the Side Man by presenting this fascinating machine along with tutorial videos explaining how it works. Meanwhile, Nelly-Ève Rajotte offers a lush and immersive multi-projection experience that exposes the complex and unique workings of the Wurlitzer Side Man 5000, accompanied by a composition of sound bites from this instrument.
