I’m Going to Get Battered over This

2014, HD Video, 15 minutes 48 seconds looped across three screens, dimensions variable

This is a quote from the first line of dialogue in the video that also questions the legality and possible repercussions in engaging with the lives of others. The video consists of audio recordings over public airwaves synchronized to footage of people on the streets of Dublin. This questions the believability and psychology of the mind to create meaning and understanding in a given situation.

Adrian Langtry investigates modern urban society utilizing video and photography to present issues of voyeurism, legality, and morality in the form of surveillance. Rather than searching for vigilant activity such as that sensationalized by the media, the documented events serve as happenings in the everyday. The urban environment is both planned and unplanned restrictively, it is sprawled topographically forcing conformity in terms of territory and navigation. Street conduct is restrictive. A human sense of awareness is required to target or be targeted, to understand and make sense of a situation, to draw conclusions in order to create patterns.

Interpretations of documented public events are liable to be misunderstood. This work is a mere illusion of this effect where fate is questioned as an acceptable method of understanding a situation. Static shots place control in the eye of the viewer, the camera looks but the viewer follows.

Beware of the dog!

Artist: Bas Peeters

Location: Entrepotdok

Website: www.baspeeters.nl

This installation was inspired by the halberdiers, the guards who once protected the Entrepotdok in Amsterdam. The halberdiers will rise once more and return to their original location. Video projections will be shown in the building’s oval-shaped windows. The 12 figures in the video projection seem static at first, yet at a closer look, move and interact with each other. The halberdiers are accompanied by a guard dog, hence the name, Beware of the dog!

As a spatial designer and set designer, Bas Peeters (1962, The Netherlands) creates site-specific installations in the public space. The history of the locations serve as important sources of inspiration when creating the installations. Peeters studied theater design and art direction at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam.

Video projection on the façade of Théâtre Maisonneuve

Life on earth began with an erotic show in which nitrogen, carbon, hydrogen and potassium intertwined in an opening dance. Three billion years later, due to humanity, organic activity on earth has deflated; the orgy is coming to an end. We are entering the Molysmocène period, the era of trash... But what if a new lifeform were born from the soup of capitalism’s discarded leftovers? The artist wishes to thank the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal.

A collection of shots from last night's "Nudie Party" at Cafe Pause, which marked the end of our "Nudie Cafe" event. The place was packed -- it was so hard to move inside that people were spilling out on the street, even attracting attention from the police -- and for the first time ever people were dancing and rockin' the place. Huge thanks to everyone who came, and to the great beats provided by Jens, PMKFA + Megumi, NIM, and Embee!

Myself and 2 friends went out to Midland and did a test run of the live projection of drawing against a building.

The tower, is one of the few structures from “Cityplan”, an urban development plan for the city centre of Eindhoven, at the end of the sixties by the Rotterdam-based firm of architects Van den Broek en Bakema. After various debates and objection procedures, the Cityplan was finally shelved in 1974, but the Hooghuis building on the Keizersgracht was anyway completed in 1975.
