We've had some changeable weather in the last couple of weeks. Strong winds are bringing in cooler temperatures to signal a gradual shift to Fall - and the kite boarders are loving it. This fellow, soaring high over the videographer, seemed fearless and made it look effortless. His name was, Patrick, and he was quite something to watch.
Couple weeks back I mentioned that I went down to Santa Monica with the Design Team. Aaron (pictured above) who is not only a photographer also does vidoes. He filmed the day and posted a little video up on vimeo: vimeo.com/38003300
This shot as taken that day with the 50mm as Aaron was taking a break. Notice my old Nikon lens mounted on his canon :)

Europe, Netherlands, Rotterdam, Centre, Luchtsingel-Roundabout (ZUS), Trampoline, People, Videographer (slightly cut)
In the middle of the Roundabout (on groundlevel) of the Luchtsingel is a popular trampoline. The Luchtsingel offers a circuit of elevated walkways that passes through the Schieblock, crosses a major road and a railroad to offer the pedestrian new ways to discover the city, help them to avoid the anonymous and sometime unsafe existing urban ground level. And it forms a connection between emerging cultural hotspots in the Rotterdam Central and Noord areas.
It is an interesting project that counteracts the detrimental effects that the combination of modernist urban planning (with its rigorous segregation of work, living and commercial functions) and chronic high levels of vacancy of office buildings and anonymous space (the location of the demolished Hofplein station) have on the liveability and vitality of the northern part of the centre of Rotterdam.
The Luchtsingel is conceived and designed by: ZUS. Funding: the municipality of Rotterdam and crowd sourcing / crowd funding. For 25 € people could and can buy planks on which the name of the buyer is printed (as can be seen in this capture).
It's an urban renewal ‘light’ project, intervening before demolition and total redevelopment are the only options left. It's pic # 181 of my Urban Frontiers album.

I'm a member of the non-profit society, The Barbados Photographic Society. Part of our activities for members includes having field trips for members to go around the island exploring. Sometimes, our field trips veer off into strange territory....
After I ended my short documentary series on the "Fire at Mangrove Pond", my friend and I headed off to our second location. My photography club had an invite and a challenge from one of our members to shoot within his backyard compound. Such a small space but rather rewarding. I was trying to do two thing at once: Shooting still abstracts and shooting video to practice my technique.
Let's get back to rough textures.I just happened to be scouting around back making a closing portion of my wind video when I noticed that the sun had climbed high enough to be hitting this highly textured object. I'm sure you can tell what it is. What does it remind of?
Fun Fact: This image went from one texture to another when someone ordered a canvas print version from me.
Feel free to comment below with your ideas on what some of these things are. Good luck!

NASA videographer Joel Kowsky near Banner, WY caught the ISS transiting the sun during the partial eclipse. I'm sure everyone checked their photos, but I drew a blank. I read somewhere the ISS would transit the sun in about 6/10ths of a second, so it would be a lucky catch.

Hi, I met Micky recently at Hyde Park (Sydney CBD) as she was sitting on a bench.
She has been here in Sydney for last two months and from Philippines. She likes to read books and wants to travel. She is also good with finance and budgeting.

This videographer at the ruins of the stone castle in the Ha Ha Tonka State Park last fall was using a jib arm to lift a remote-controlled Blackbox video camera into the air. He and his assistant had been shooting video off the side of the path from this one spot all afternoon. The counterweights at the bottom of the arm probably made this an arduous task to move. The castle ruins are on top of the hill at the right (just out of view in this shot). The lake is one of the arms of the Lake of the Ozarks. In retrospect, I wish I had asked him what the video was intended for.
The ruins of former Robert McClure Snyder's turn-of-the-20th-century stone castle walls sit on the edge of a high cliff overlooking a vast area of the Ozarks. His 5,000+ acre estate is now a part of the Ha Ha Tonka State Park in the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. More than 15 miles of trails wind through the park, which has sinkholes, natural bridges, caves and a part of the 1,000+ mile shoreline of the lake.

Though I have been retired three years, I still have some residual expertise as far as some of the local media are concerned. So Zach wanted to ask me a few questions today, and I complied. In return, he let me take a picture of him with his camera.
(I've put this in my "Around My Office" album even though I haven't had an office now for years. But the picture is a sorta holdover from my working days. . . .)

This is one of the freelance videographers that we met while wandering around the streets of Portland, Main; he and his partner are involved in making making a documentary video of what it's like for people who have emigrated from Somalia and other African countries, into the U.S., in recent years.
***********************************
In August 2015, I had the great pleasure of taking a week-long photography workshop in Rockport, Maine under the tutelage of Peter Turnley. Its main theme was street photography, and we made several visits to working-class neighborhoods in several Maine towns where (unbeknownst to me) there are large populations of working-class immigrants from Somalia, Sierra Leone, and various other countries around the world.
Most of our “field” exercises were carried out in pairs, threesomes, or foursomes; and in many cases, we were lucky enough to follow along behind Peter Turnley and watch his amazing style and techniques. The photos in this set were taken on such a field-exercise, in a working-class neighborhood of Portland, Maine.
Thanks to my favorite videographer, Kate. And she pointed out my grammar error so you don't need to.

Europe, Netherlands, Zuid Holland, Rotterdam, Kop van Zuid, Laan op Zuid, Marathon Rotterdam, NOS Motor camera, rider and videographer (very slightly cropped from all sides)
The Rotterdam Marathon is full of stories. About the amateurs who after long and strenuous training entered it for the first time or tried to to better there times, about their suffering, about the pro-athletes also trying to best their personal records and perform the way the race direction envisions it. About replenishment, the planning of it and the rules that guide it. It's all in my Rotterdam Marathon album. In this one, # 33, I focussed on the media and the acrobatics of the videographer.

From the sunrise shoot on Wednesday morning with Paul Baumann, Producer, Director, Videographer, Voiceover Dude, Writer and friend extraordinaire! (who i have made a promise that i will not turn him into a rug!) www.xfinigen.com (Explanation to follow.)
I had an amazing 3 days working with and tour guiding this wonderful, funny, and uber talented man. I have no words to express to him my gratitude for all that he is doing to help me become successful at what i do, Now....that being said....we come to the part about not turning him into a rug!
I picked him up the day i was to meet him, after talking a few times on the phone. We were having a lunch meeting so i could learn about his ideas on promoting my business. In one of our conversations pre meeting in person, he had told me a funny story and that he could be a bit of a “smart ass” at times. THAT stuck in my mind because i am pretty darned snarky myself at times!
We planned to meet at 11:30am....i arrived at 11:29am and messaged him that i was there....5 minutes.....no response....i messaged a second time that i was outside, parked near the cottage. Another 5 minutes......nothing. I then message my friend Butch (he was staying at one of Butch’s rentals) and asked if he had seen him....he came out of his apartment and went and got Paul,,,but in the meantime...i had messaged Paul a 3rd time and said “If it is too much for you to walk to the cottage, i can drive up and park closer.” Full snark intended!!!
Butch came out with him and they walked to my car...and he was cracking up!! At first there was no hello....just “If i CAN’T WALK that far you would come to my door!!!!???? WTH!!????” i was laughing so hard. I told him that i was sitting there for 10 MINUTES....and thought maybe he could not make it 3 cars away from the apartment!!! THAT started the whole snarky laugh filled three and a half days of fun, work and adventure!
He noticed the plates on my car are Jersey plates...but did not say anything until....he got in...and only after i apologized for the big rolled up and brown paper wrapped rug that went from the back of the car to resting on the console. He then very matter of factly said “That is not a rug. You are from Jersey....that is a body. Who pissed you off!?” No amount of explanation would convince him that it was a rug...and he just kept making up a story to go with the whole scenario of me as “The Rug Woman from Jersey”!
I laughed myself to tears!!!! After we got to the restaurant i promised that i would not make him into a rug....but that he should always remember not to make me mad, and remember what happens like when i get to that point! Sometimes it is just easier to agree with people you are dealing with!!! Yes......i am indeed the Rug Lady from Jersey! LOL!!!!
PS. He is a good guy, but wow...he does NOT do morning wake up calls well at 5:45am!!!!!! ;)

Model: ME
Videographer: Peet Auer aka Peetie Auer
by the talented Peetie Auer who was so lovely to record this video for and with me,
as I saw some weren't able to visit the show yesterday or couldn't see me properly because I used BOM for the first time.
I am absolutely happy and flattered by the outcome of thie video as it's dark and creepy
and beautiful and everything I wanted it to be for the Halloween season of this year.
The music (maybe some can recognize it) I used by one of my absolute favorite groups of whole SL
"The Monarchs" who gave me the idea to ask for this kind of a video. Always a candy for the eye to go there.
All poses were used by Fairey Poses btw!
Thank you again so much for this video Peetie my sweet cutypie and all others I hope you enjoy the video!
Love <3
