During late 2018 and into most of 2019, CN Experienced a rather drastic power shortage. In an effort to combat it, they leased various engines. A large group of former CSX 8-40CWs were amongst the engines leased as shown by train M397 as they cruise by Lansing with a big train on the drawbar. Much like the leasers, the CN owned Dash 8s are also being stored, retired, and sold off. Just another casualty to time and modernity.

Tomorrow will be a somber day in the Detroit suburb of River Rouge. Tomorrow will mark the day that U.S. Steel will indefinitely idle the last blast furnace at Great Lakes Steel at Zug Island. Approximately 1500 people will be out of work from the mill alone, not including the non-GLS employees who provide outside services to allow the mill to function at 100%. One of those such outside service providers is the Delray Connecting Railroad, which runs the hot metal bottles from the blast furnace to the caster. This very unique operation doesn't offer many spots to shoot, is in a very rough neighborhood, and is usually subject to being harassed by U.S. Steel security, who are notorious for being dicks. Making a return trip to the mill, 4 empty bottles return for another fill of molten steel. Once the blast furnace shuts down for good, this will likely be the death sentence for not only this operation, but this railroad as well.

Jaguars are the third largest of the four big cats. It has a sturdy build and usually weights between 125 and 200 pounds. It can reach up to six feet long and stand at about 2 and half feet at the shoulder.
Jaguars will either crush and suffocate and victim or bite straight through his skull. It prefers to stalk and eventually ambush its prey rather than chase it. Then it pounces from a prey’s blind spot. After the kill, jaguars prefer to drag their meal to a secluded spot to eat. They are carnivores but will eat almost any kind of meat.
Jaguars live in South and Central America. Jaguars are larger and stockier than leopards.
Jaguars can kill their prey by cracking their skulls. while leopards kill with a suffocating bite.

Abandoned house for NAPG Contest. There was a "Posted: No Trespassing" sign but I don't think that applies to photographers does it?
Oh my god my heart goes out to the families of the loved ones who lost their beloved ones and I wish those injured a complete and speedy recovery.
It is heartbreaking news. Condolences to all the families and rest in peace to all victims.

La photographe franco-marocaine Leïla Alaoui, grièvement blessée dans l’attentat de Ouagadougou, est morte lundi 18 janvier au soir. Elle se trouvait au Burkina Faso dans le cadre d’une mission pour l’ONG Amnesty International.
Une pensée à cette jeune femme : photographe engagée et talentueuse.

While many of the trees in this area can survive drought by dropping leaves and becoming almost dormant, many can not substain.
New Brighton Lighthouse, originally known as Perch Rock Lighthouse after the navigation hazard that it marks, came into operation in 1830 and continued as a navigation beacon until 1st October 1973, when it became a victim of modern navigation technology. The tower rises 90ft above the rock, the first half of which is solid. To gain access when the tide is out a ladder is needed to reach the first of the 15 iron rungs built in to the side of the tower that lead up to the door. A spiral staircase leads to the keepers' accommodation consisting of a galley/kitchen, a bathroom, a living room and a bedroom and then up to the lamp room.

Story behind this shoot:
I did the colour versions of this shoot a few years ago. They went viral and were widely acclaimed as impactful and thought provoking after being picked up by a famous Black American influencer on Instagram. The series of 6 of these shots had before this been accepted for a UK Nationwide touring exhibition - to be pulled at the last minute by those in charge as it was considered it may be too "distressing for school children" to see these (even though it was a normal exhibition for all the public who would mainly be adults anyway).
Seeing the usual images of black people suffering in chains in the schoolbooks is apparently okay, but it is not good for kids to see things differently, or to perish the thought to make the next generation actually have to THINK and be impacted ... and if they are distressed for a little while by the reality then so be it, as that's how change happens by hearts and minds being impacted as slavery and racism and inequality based on race is distressing. Whatever the race of the perpetrator and victim.
I - and my two awesome models here PJ Walker and Horace Silver - am proud that these images are considered powerful enough to impact young minds. And maybe a few old ones.
