The Lions of the 23rd Chemical Battalion sponsored a 5K run as a way of honoring and thanking veterans for their service. As a personal tribute, Command Sgt. Maj. Luis Rivera, ran the event carrying an M1 Garand replica and wearing a uniform reminiscent of the dough boys of World War I.

PITTSBURGH – Maj. Gen. Tony Carrelli, Pennsylvania’s adjutant general and head of the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), teamed up with members of the Pennsylvania National Guard and DMVA employees to express gratitude and holiday wishes to veterans at Southwestern Veterans’ Center in Pittsburgh on Dec. 18. The DMVA administers six extended care facilities throughout the state for veterans and their spouses. The other five are located in Erie, Hollidaysburg, Philadelphia, Scranton and Spring City.
